Since we believe that measurable certainty should be a threshold capability for any firm providing document review, management and analysis services, you’d expect our leaders to have come from backgrounds that grounded them in this discipline. You’d be correct.

Our leadership team has on average more than 30 years of experience, placing us amongst the most seasoned leadership teams in the global legal services industry. Our executive team includes the former managing partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ North American Business Process Outsourcing (“BPO”) organization, who was also a member of that firm’s U.S. management committee; a former member of the PricewaterhouseCoopers’ BPO leadership team; a senior U.S. lawyer with significant litigation experience; and a senior U.S. Lawyer with extensive global legal and operating experience. In addition, all of our services are provided by bar-certified lawyers and are supervised by U.S. or U.K bar-certified lawyers in all operating locations.

Our Board of Managers has substantial legal, business and academic qualifications, and our Board of Advisors and Strategic Counselors have significant corporate legal department, law firm and professional services experience – altogether, we likely have more experience than any other legal services firm in the industry.

Novus Law’s executive team includes two former members of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ North American Business Process Outsourcing Leadership team, a U.S. lawyer with significant litigation experience at Am Law 100 firms, and a U.S. lawyer with considerable global legal and operating experience.

Ray Bayley is the president and chief executive officer of Novus Law. Mr. Bayley is responsible for the firm’s strategy, ethics, global operations, and quality management systems. He is the former managing partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ North American Business Process Outsourcing organization – considered during his tenure as the world’s leading outsourcing organization – and was a member of the firm’s 15-member management committee, responsible for overseeing the $9 billion, 70,000 person, U.S. operations of the firm. Mr. Bayley is also the former chief executive officer of a business process outsourcing company with large scale operations in India. He is a member of the advisory boards of the Corporate Counsel Institute at Georgetown University Law Center and the Legal Transformation Study: Your 2020 Vision of the Future. Mr. Bayley received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois and Master of Business Administration degree with Beta Gamma Sigma honors from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Anand Dayal is the vice president of global service delivery operations for Novus Law. Mr. Dayal is responsible for global service delivery operations, including process and quality management systems, and the recruiting, development and training of service delivery professionals. Mr. Dayal is a U.S. citizen and full-time resident of India. He formerly practiced law at Pillsbury Madison & Sutro in Washington, D.C. and White & Case LLP and Chadbourne & Parke. Mr. Dayal is the Chair of the Anti-Corruption Compliance Committee for the American Chamber of Commerce in India, a committee formed to assist U.S. companies with compliance and risk management related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). Mr. Dayal is admitted to practice law in New York, the District of Columbia and is a member of the Bar Council of Delhi, India. Mr. Dayal received a Bachelor of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, a Master of Science degree from Cornell University and a Juris Doctor cum laude from the Cornell Law School.

Jim Hanlon is the director of client development initiatives for litigation and other key practice areas for Novus Law. Mr. Hanlon is responsible for overseeing the development of new client relationships and the service delivery strategies and solutions for each. He a is former equity partner at Katten Muchin Zavis (now Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP) where he practiced for 18 years before moving to Howrey LLP, where he was an equity partner for six years in the firm’s Global Litigation Group. Mr. Hanlon has extensive experience representing members of the securities industry in complex commercial litigation and regulatory matters and is a former Chair of the Chicago Bar Association’s Securities Law Committee. He also has significant experience in a variety of antitrust and corporate control matters, including the representation of participants in proxy fights, tender offer litigation, and other commercial litigation matters. Mr. Hanlon is admitted to practice law in Illinois and received a Bachelor of Science degree from DePaul University and a Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from DePaul University College of Law, where he served on the Law Review.

Lois Haubold is the vice president of client and account relationship management of Novus Law. Ms. Haubold is responsible for overseeing all client relationship management activities and is the primary liaison between the firm’s U.S. and Indian operations. She is a former member of the North American Business Process Outsourcing leadership team at PricewaterhouseCoopers and vice president of client relationship management and alliances at a business process outsourcing company with large scale operations in India, where she was responsible for integrating clients’ needs with the firm’s global service delivery system in India. Ms. Haubold received Master and Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Illinois and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Novus Law’s Board of Managers is responsible for governance, strategic direction, management oversight, and the financial control and procedures of Novus Law. The participation and support provided by the Board of Managers helps ensure the stability, reliability and successful growth of Novus Law.

Ken Ali founded Rock Gate Partners, LLC and directs deal origination, acquisition structuring and negotiation, portfolio company oversight and overall firm strategic direction. Mr. Ali has over two decades of investment banking experience advising large capitalization and middle market clients on a wide range of mergers and acquisitions and financing transactions. Most recently Mr. Ali was a Director in Citigroup’s Global Investment Banking Group. Prior to Citigroup, he held positions of increasing responsibility with Credit Suisse First Boston (formerly Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette), Robert W. Baird and KPMG Corporate Finance. He serves as a director of Walpar, LLC, and is a member of the advisory board of MAB Capital Management LLC. Mr. Ali’s professional experience includes acquisitions, divestitures, leveraged recapitalizations, valuations, equity and debt private placements, senior bank and institutional debt financings, initial public offerings and secondary equity offerings. Mr. Ali received a Bachelor of Science degree from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) and Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Peter Coffey is a partner at Michael Best & Friedrich LLP. Mr. Coffey has extensive experience in strategic alliances, technology licensing and the financing, acquisition and sale of businesses. He is the Past Chairman of The Association for Corporate Growth, an Adjunct Professor at Marquette Law School and Legal Counsel for The Milwaukee School of Engineering and The National Forensic League. Mr. Coffey serves on the Board of Directors of United Community Center and is the Chair of the Risk Management Committee of the Milwaukee County Boy Scouts of America. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame, Master of Business Administration degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and a Juris Doctor from Marquette University.

Jim Dimitriou is the managing partner of Tatum LLC’s Chicago office and a former vice president at nGenera Corporation and Capgemini U.S. LLC. Mr. Dimitriou has extensive strategy, business development, operations and business alliance relationship experience in the professional services and technology industries, including senior positions at Opsware, Inc. Loudcloud, Inc. Computer Sciences Corporation, and Andersen Consulting. He has significant experience building and managing substantial business development initiatives, creating improved customer solutions and operations, and delivering exceptional account services and management. Mr. Dimitriou received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton College.

Bill Elwin is the former director of global professional development and training for Shearman & Sterling LLP and chief learning officer for Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal, both Am Law 100 firms. Mr. Elwin is also a former associate dean of the Northwestern School of Law, and co-founder and executive director of the Northwestern School of Law’s Corporate Counsel Center. He is a former prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice’s antitrust division and an elected member of the American Law Institute. Mr. Elwin is the former president of the Legal Club of Chicago and The Chicago Bar Foundation and has received numerous awards during his career including those from the Chicago Bar Association and the ABA Committee on Law School Development. Mr. Elwin received Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Denver, a Certificate in Economics from the University of Vienna and a Juris Doctor from the Northwestern University School of Law.

Milind Lele is the managing director and co-founder of Strategic Leverage Consultants, a global management consulting firm specializing in business strategies to increase profitability and market capitalization. Dr. Lele is the author of Monopoly Rules (2005), Creating Strategic Leverage (1992) and The Customer is Key (1987). He has published papers and articles in the Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review, Planning Review, New York Times, and Business and Marketing. Dr. Lele teaches MBA and executive education classes at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business; and has taught at Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management; University of Rochester William E. Simon School; and the University of California Los Angeles Anderson School of Management. Dr. Lele received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pune, Bachelor of Engineering degree from the India Institute of Science and a Ph.D degree in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University.

Novus Law’s Board of Advisors and Strategic Counselors are legal-industry leaders and other executives chosen to provide advice and support on a wide range of issues relevant to the success of our firm. By lending their substantial experience and expertise, the Board of Advisors and Strategic Counselors play an important role in the success of Novus Law and its ability to provide a trustworthy and reliable alternative to the traditional legal service model.

Bill Bax is a retired managing partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Chicago area practice. Mr. Bax is a member of the Board and Chair of the Audit Committee of Northern Funds/Northern Institutional Funds/Northern Multi-Manager Funds, and a member of the Board and Chair of the Audit Committee of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. (NYSE). He was a member of the Board and Audit Committee Chair of Sears, Roebuck & Co. (NYSE) from July 2003 until the merger of Sears and Kmart in March 2005, and a member of the Board and Audit Committee Chair of Andrew Corporation (NASDAQ) until its sale 2007. Mr. Bax is a director/trustee of Big Shoulders Fund, the Finance Council of the Archdiocese of Chicago (Audit Committee Chair), and Children’s Memorial Hospital (Executive Committee; Audit Committee Chair). He is a member of The Commercial Club of Chicago. He is a certified public accountant in the State of Illinois and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Bax received a Bachelor of Science degree from DePaul University.

Ward Bower is the president of Altman Weil, Inc. the leading advisory services firm in the legal industry. Mr. Bower is a former council member and division chair of the Law Practice Management Section of the American Bar Association. He is a fellow of both the American Bar Foundation and the College of Law Practice Management and is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania. Mr. Bower received his Bachelor of Science degree from Bucknell University and Juris Doctor from the Dickinson School of Law at Penn State University.

Father Jamels James is a Catholic priest and founder for LIFT (Leading India’s Future Today), a not-for-profit, organization that is building non-denominational schools and sponsoring children to attend from areas of poverty in southern India. He has extensive experience serving in parishes in both the United States and India focusing on initiatives that help improve the lives, education and family structures on those living in those communities. Father James completed significant doctoral studies in Sociology at Loyola University in Chicago, received a Bachelor of Theology from Jnana Deepa Vidaya Peeth Seminary in Pune, India and received a Master of Business Administration degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Bruce MacEwen is the president and founder of Adam Smith Esq. a management consulting firm serving the legal industry. Mr. MacEwen is also the publisher of AdamSmithEsq.com, a widely read online publication focusing on the economics of law firms, and an internationally recognized thought leader and speaker on law firm strategy and economics. He is a regional director for the Managing Partners Forum and an adjunct professor at SUNY/Stony Brook’s Graduate College of Business. Mr. MacEwen formerly practiced securities law with Morgan Stanley/Dean Witter and practiced litigation and corporate law with Shea & Gould and Breed, Abbott & Morgan. He is admitted to practice law in New York and received his Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude from Princeton University and Juris Doctor from the Stanford Law School.

Julian Oettinger is the retired general counsel and corporate secretary of Walgreen Company and former in-house counsel with the S.E.C. Mr. Oettinger currently serves on the Law Board at Northwestern University School of Law. Prior to his retirement he was admitted to practice law in Illinois and received his Juris Doctor from the Northwestern University School of Law.

Marc Whitehead is the retired managing partner of an Am Law 100 Firm, a retired senior litigation partner at Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal, LLP, and the retired chairman and director of Global Liability Management, a global consulting firm focused on liability assessment and prevention for large corporations. He is a nationally recognized trial lawyer for large-scale complex product liability cases. Mr. Whitehead is admitted to practice law in Illinois and Minnesota and received his Juris Doctor from the Yale Law School.
