#Annual Ranking Highlights The Most Prestigious Law Firms In The U. S.
Follow Comments Following Comments Unfollow Comments
Top law firms are known for long hours, cut-throat competition, and charging packs of eager young attorneys. But which firms have earned the strongest reputations among peers, clients, and young legal eagles themselves?
Career resource Vault has been creating their annual Law 100 ranking since 1996. Using the reviews of 17,000 law firm associates, Vault ranks firms on a scale of one to 10, according to associates’ perceptions of the firms’ “prestige.” Respondents are not allowed to rank their own firms and are asked to comment only on those firms with which they are familiar.
The ranking provides valuable information both to candidates contemplating the search for a summer associate position, as well as to the firms themselves and their clients.
“Our goal is to really help people figure out what makes the most sense for them in

#Annual Program Planning
Your Annual Troop Program Plan = Satisfied Boy Scouts and families = A lifelong love of Scouting!
Dear Committee Chair, Scoutmaster, and Senior Patrol Leader:
Let's talk about one of the key elements of all successful troops and an indicator of a potentially successful year. Of course that would be the troop's annual program plan and planning conference.
Research conducted by Eli Lilly in Indianapolis, Indiana, showed that a common element of strong troops is they all have a good annual program planned a year in advance that is then shared with all families in the form of a calendar. The important result of a shared annual program calendar is that your troop will attract more families and Boy Scouts will stay involved longer.
Two other key elements of successful troops identified in that study were training and having just the right leader to start with.
Here's how a troop program planning conference works. A month

#Antimatter haze found in thundercloud, and the laws of physics can’t explain it
Six years ago, atmospheric physicist, Joseph Dwyer, accidentally flew his plane into a thundercloud, and right through an unexpected pocket of antimatter. And while we know high-energy positrons - the antimatter counterpart of the electron - can be caused by cosmic rays making contact with the atmosphere, or by particularly active lightning storms, what Dwyer detected could not be explained by either of these scenarios.
"This was so strange that we sat on this observation for several years," Dwyer, from the University of New Hampshire in the US, told Davide Castelvecchi at Nature.
The flight in question took place on 21 August 2009, when Dwyer, then at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida, set out to detect gamma rays (γ-rays) - extremely high-frequency electromagnetic radiation made up of high-energy photons. He installed a particle detector on a Gulfstrea

#Antitrust Laws And You
Many consumers have never heard of antitrust laws, but enforcement of these laws saves consumers millions and even billions of dollars a year. The Federal Government enforces three major Federal antitrust laws, and most states also have their own. Essentially, these laws prohibit business practices that unreasonably deprive consumers of the benefits of competition, resulting in higher prices for products and services.
The three major Federal antitrust laws are:
- The Sherman Antitrust Act
- The Clayton Act
- The Federal Trade Commission Act.
The following information on these laws comes from the Antitrust Enforcement and the Consumer guide.
The Sherman Antitrust Act
This Act outlaws all contracts, combinations, and conspiracies that unreasonably restrain interstate and foreign trade. This includes agreements among competitors to fix prices, rig bids, and allocate customers, which are puni

#Anti-apartheid heroes urge Cameron not to repeal Human Rights Act
Some of South Africa’s most influential intellectuals and activists have urged David Cameron to reconsider his plans to repeal the Human Rights Act. warning that the move is reminiscent of the mindset that created apartheid.
In a letter to the Observer, 25 of the country’s most eminent playwrights, lawyers, politicians and artists say that more than two decades after the British people spoke out against apartheid in South Africa, it was their turn to reciprocate with support for a country that is in danger of betraying that honourable history .
Their intervention is timed to coincide with Mandela Day. the second since the anti-apartheid hero’s death. The signatories describe their “horror” at Cameron’s desire to replace the act with a British bill of rights. Britain’s role in challenging apartheid, they said, meant they had a duty to intervene on behalf of the British people.

In today's fast-paced, technologically complex economy, businesses rely on project managers to shepherd projects through to completion. According to the Association for Project Management, "at its most fundamental, project management is about getting things done through people." In practice, project managers may orchestrate development of a new product, an overhaul of business processes, or a corporate restructuring. The common element is a big-picture coordination of activities according to a schedule and budget, combined with a need to manage risk and uphold quality standards.
A master's degree in project management cultivates the technical and theoretical knowledge critical to effective project leadership. Available a variety of formats, the master's in project management generally takes a year or two to complete. #Antitrust Laws - Ayn - Rand Lexicon
The Antitrust laws an unenforceable, uncompliable, unjudicable mess of contradictions have for decades kept American businessmen under a silent, growing reign of terror. Yet these laws were created and, to this day, are upheld by the conservatives, as a grim monument to their lack of political philosophy, of economic knowledge and of any concern with principles. Under the Antitrust laws, a man becomes a criminal from the moment he goes into business, no matter what he does. For instance, if he charges prices which some bureaucrats judge as too high, he can be prosecuted for monopoly or for a successful intent to monopolize ; if he charges prices lower than those of his competitors, he can be prosecuted for unfair competition or restraint of trade ; and if he charges the same prices as his competitors, he can be prosecuted for collusion or conspiracy. There is only one difference in the legal treatment accorded to a criminal or to a businessman:
