#Two-year law degree for graduates - University of Leicester Posted by mjs76 at May 19, 2011 02:00 PM | Permalink Have you considered a career in law? The University of Leicester School of Law is one of a just a handful of universities that offers a fast track two-year LLB law degree for graduates. In the recent Guardian rankings, we were placed 15th out of 95 Law Schools. LLB Law degrees can lead to the Legal Practice Course (LPC) which is required if you wish to be a solicitor, or the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) which is required if you wish to be a barrister. The LLB degree is also of value to international students who wish to pursue a legal career as it is recognised for entry on to equivalent courses in countries such as Canada. In order for a law degree to be classed as 'qualifying' and allow entry on to the LPC, BPTC or equivalent, it must contain a number of compulsory 'professional exemption subjects'. The traditional three-year LLB Law degree contains these compulsory subjects and a number of optional modules over the three years. However, the two-year course simply studies the compulsory modules, as well as an introductory module on learning legal skills to prepare you for studying law. Entry requirements for University of Leicester students are an overall result of 58% or higher in their Undergraduate degree. We still have spaces for entry in October 2011 - third year students who have not quite completed their degrees can apply before they get their final results as offers can be made on a 'conditional' basis. For more information, please contact Beth Astington the Undergraduate Admissions Administrator on law@le.ac.uk .
