#How Much Does It Cost to Earn an MBA Degree?

Average Cost of an MBA Degree

Although the cost of an MBA degree can vary, the average tuition for a two-year MBA program exceeds $60,000. If you attend one of the top business schools in the U.S., you can expect to pay as much as $100,000 or more in tuition and fees.

Advertised Costs vs. Actual Costs

It is important to note that the advertised cost of tuition may be lower than the amount you are actually required to pay. If you get scholarships, grants, or other types of financial aid. you may be able to cut your MBA degree tuition in half. Your employer may also be willing to pay for all or at least part of your MBA program costs.

You should also be aware that tuition costs do not encompass other fees associated with earning an MBA degree. You will need to pay for books, school supplies (such as a laptop and software), and maybe even boarding expenses.

#How Much Is An MBA Degree Really Worth?

October 16, 2014 26 815 Views

What’s an MBA degree really worth? And how much more money does an MBA from Harvard, Stanford or Wharton get you over a career than one from Texas A M, Ohio State, or the University of Iowa?

Those are questions that perplex and confound many who are deciding whether to get the degree and, if so, where to get it from. Not everyone can get into the most highly selective business schools. So many candidates have to face the question over whether it’s worth getting the MBA from a second- or even third-tier school.

A new analysis done exclusively for Poets Quants by PayScale. which collects salary data from individuals through online pay comparison tools, shows that the MBA–even from schools that lack global or national caché–delivers hefty seven-figure income over a 20-year period. PayScale used its database of MBA graduates at the top 50 U.S. schools to calculate an estim ... Read more »

The Information Technology Act, 2000 (IT Act 2000) is the exclusive Law that deals with Cyber Law aspects in India. The Law was passed in the year 2000 and it has served its purpose. The Cyber Law of India has also been amended a few times but mostly to give effect to Indian Government’s “Own Objectives”. For instance, the Amendments made in the year in the Information Technology Act were “Dominantly” meant to confer “Unlimited and Uncontrolled E-Surveillance Powers” upon Indian Government and its Agencies. So in a way, the Cyber Law of India has “Failed to Achieve” the Objectives with which it was enacted. This is also the reason why I have also suggested that the Cyber Law of India should be Repealed .

However, before the present Cyber Law is repealed, we must formulate a Techno Legal Cyber Law Framework for India. The same is also required to meet the demands of Conflict of Laws in the Cyberspace. The proposed Cyber Law must not be a Comprehensive or “Panacea Legislation” ... Read more »

#What s the best route into law?

Sponsored by:

T here are many different ways to become a lawyer, all of which have pros and cons. Whether you aspire to be a solicitor or a barrister, the most obvious first step is to apply for an undergraduate law degree.

But don't rush into it: are you genuinely interested in academic law? Or would you rather study something you're more passionate about?

If you've always dreamt of studying science, history, philosophy, or languages at university, you don't have to give up on this. Law firms don't discriminate against people who haven't studied law as undergraduates. In fact, many heartily welcome trainees with non-law degrees.

Some magic circle firms claim that around half of their trainees don't have law degrees. Slaughter and May claims to employ solicitors who studied 126 different degree courses, including history, biology, languages, psychology and chemistry. The firm recently employed a former gynecologist, ... Read more »

#Free Credit Reports

Reviewing your credit report is an important step in taking charge of your financial health. Thankfully, it's about to become much easier for a lot of folks to do just that. Residents of Kentucky will be eligible for this service beginning June 1, 2005.

The FACT Act has required the three credit reporting agencies to establish a centralized source AnnualCreditReport.com from which consumers can request their free reports. Be aware that any credit reports you request from the credit reporting agencies directly, or any other source, may require a fee. Even companies that advertise "free" reports are often using the reports as lures to pull consumers into additional for-fee services that you may not want or need. Why is it that you can tell your own mother she's driving you crazy, but not your mother-in-law? Precisely because she's not your mom. "You don't have a history with your in-laws, you didn't grow up with them, so you don't know how they'll react to criticism," says Susan Forward, PhD. "The unexpected is what makes confronting your husband's family so scary."

What do you do? "Work as a team and ask your husband to step in and talk to the person," she says. "Although he's the one stuck in the middle, you're his wife and he should have your back, even with his parents and siblings." That doesn't mean making him choose between you or them. Stalking is a relatively new crime now on the books in every state. It is generally defined as the intentional, repeated following of a person for the purpose of harassing the person with express or implied threats of violence or death. The definitions vary only slightly from state to state with some states adding things like lying in wait, surveillance, or warnings from police officers. Stalking statutes have become very important legal devices that, with protective orders, can help shield people from the threatening or harassing behavior of others in a variety of circumstances.

Most notably, celebrities have been the victims of stalking activity, when fans become obsessed with the object of their attention. Stalking may also occur when a jilted lover becomes obsessed with his or her ex-lover or spouse, or even when a person becomes obsessed with a complete stranger or co-worker. The crime can turn every day life into a nightmare for the victim of this crime. Consequently s ... Read more »

How to Qualify for an FHA Mortgage Loan With Bad Credit

Assemble a large down payment. According to HUD, FHA lenders can approve a 3.5 percent down payment only for borrowers with a credit score higher than 580. Applicants with credit scores lower than 580 must come up with at least 10 percent down. "The Wall Street Journal" reports, however, that lenders are unlikely to approve an FHA loan for an individual with a 580 credit score and just 10 percent down. The more money you have for a down payment, the better your chances in what is already an uphill climb.

#How Online Education Is Impacting the Legal Industry

dummy text

The legal industry has historically been slow to change. Lawyers and paraprofessionals are risk-averse, and law schools typically use traditional instruction techniques to educate new generations of practitioners. However, the advent of online education and its massive success is throwing traditions in legal education into question.

Law schools and online education

In 2013 the American Bar Association (ABA) Task Force on the Future of Legal Education recommended that law schools make better use of technology, including online education resources. Various commentators have noted that law professors are essentially discouraged from using new techniques, texts or other materials in their classrooms.

Now there are several online law schools operating, St. Francis School of Law. for example, but as yet they are not ABA accredited. Other schools such as Case Western are offering hybrid pr ... Read more »

An executive public official, including a mayor of a city of the governor of the state, may declare a state of emergency. This declaration authorizes the release of disaster relief funds and activates certain agencies within the state's infrastructure, including the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency. Declaring a state of emergency doesn't have a direct affect on Pennsylvania labor law for private businesses. The government within the state may order a shutdown of all non-essential state and local personnel during an emergency situation. This would immediately suspend working hours for all local and state government employees until the emergency situation subsides.

The declaration of a state of emergency in Pennsylvania only changes at-will employment law in the state when the regulations of the declaration change public policy according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. For example, if a state of emergency closes roads or temporarily establishes a curfew, these new r ... Read more »

#How To Identify PD Music

Music and Lyrics and Arrangement

music - the melody or the rhythmical sequence of single notes lyrics - words that are sung with the music arrangement - specific harmony notes played with the melody

When doing public domain research, you must separately consider the PD status of the music, the lyrics, and the arrangement. Most often you will find a piece of sheet music with a PD copyright date which includes music, lyrics, and arrangement. The PD status for all are the same, and your research is done. But there are many instances where music is in the public domain, but the lyrics are still copyright protected. For example, an old tune called Aura Lee is in the public domain, but the Love Me Tender lyrics sung to the Aura Lee tune by Elvis Presley will still be under copyright protection for years. There are also instances, particularly in religious music, where an author takes ancient lyrics and writes new ... Read more »

Maritime law, or admiralty law, is one of the most established and oldest types of law. It generally covers laws or rules that govern tort, contract, marine commerce, ships, shipping, and worker compensation claims that arise on the world’s navigable waters. Topics can include salvage, towage, maritime liens, maritime contracts, marinas, and maritime injuries.

Although the topics covered by maritime laws are numerous, there are several that are quite interesting. For example, there are laws that govern what happens when someone finds property that is lost. Under international laws, if property is lost on the water and found by someone else, the finder can claim a salvage award for the retrieved property. Consequently, if a ship is damaged and loses cargo during a bad ocean storm, the finder can ask the shipping company to pay them money for any of the cargo they retrieve. Usually the salvage award is less than half of the value of the property that was salvaged.

How To Refinance Student Loans

In the United States, the average student loan debt of a recent graduate is $21,000. If you are among the millions of young Americans with student loan debt, it is important to know your options for refinancing your student loan.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO REFINANCE A STUDENT LOAN?

When you refinance a loan, you pay off the balance of one loan with another loan. Refinancing a loan is the best option when you are looking for a lower monthly payment on your loan. This is achieved by lowering the interest rate or by extending the repayment time on the loan. Lowering the interest rate will ultimately help you repay less, while extending the repayment time will cost you more in the long run.

HOW CAN I REFINANCE MY LOANS?

Unfortunately, many lenders are not willing to let you refinance on a student loan, since lowering your interest rate would not be profitable for them. However, don’t be daunted ... Read more »

De facto is a Latin expression that means "in fact" or "in practice". It is commonly used in contrast to de jure (which means "by law") when referring to matters of law. governance. or technique (such as standards ), that are found in the common experience as created or developed without or against a regulation. When discussing a legal situation, de jure designates what the law says, while de facto designates what happens in practice (which may or may not be legal).

The term de facto may also be used when there is no relevant law or standard, but a common practice is well established, although perhaps not quite universal.

A de facto government is one that maintains itself by a display of force against the will of the rightful legal government and is successful, at least temporarily, in overturning the institutions of the rightful legal government by setting up its own in lieu thereof ref Wortham v. What is an insurance score?

An insurance score is a score calculated from information on your credit report. Credit information is very predictive of future accidents or insurance claims, which is why Progressive, and most insurers, uses this information to help develop more accurate rates. Each insurer has its own method for evaluating this credit information. At Progressive, we develop our method by analyzing the following data from people we have insured:

  • Accident and insurance claim history
  • Credit report information

The results of this analysis tell us what credit information will help us predict how likely you are to have a future accident or insurance claim. We assign a value to each predictive credit factor and add the values to calculate your insurance score. The lower your score with us, the better.

I need a loan but have bad credit. what are my options?

Currently Being Moderated

Flake - Sorry if you saw my post as negative or insulting. The reality is that if someone has bad credit and no money, they should not be purchasing a home. There's a world of difference between you qualifying for a small credit card and qualifying for a residential mortgage. Perhaps if people were more responsible when it came to borrowing, we'd not be in the real estate mess that we find ourselves in today. Maybe if there were more "mean" guys like me talking sense into people, we wouldn't have foreclosures left and right. What would you prefer: me telling it like it is (ie this person should not be buying a house) OR me sugar coating it and having that same person on the street in 6 months because they took on more debt than they could handle? Perhaps its YOU who is doing the dis-service here Ms. Flake by encouraging an unqualified buyer to make ... Read more »

#Phoenix Bad Faith Insurance

If you’re like most Americans, you pay multiple insurance premiums every month: health, auto, and property insurance at a minimum.

And like most Americans, you may believe that insurance companies exist for the your benefit or for that of others like you who seek to protect hard-earned assets in the event of an accident, illness, natural disaster, or other unexpected loss. When the time comes that you need to make a claim, however, you may have to face the sad reality—the truth your agent never told you: the insurance company’s primary reason for existence is not to help those who have suffered losses recover; their main purpose is to turn profits for their investors. That means filling their coffers by collecting premiums month after month and then paying out the least amount they can get away with.

#How to find case law - Lawlinks - University of Kent

If you know the name/citation of the case

Every reported case has a title which is usually the name of the parties involved in the action. The title is then supplemented by a citation, which helps to find the case and shows where you can find the law report.

Citations

Citations normally consist of a year plus abbreviations, which lead to a page within a volume of a series of law reports.

The four parts to most citations are:

  • date or year
  • volume number
  • abbreviation for the title of the law report series
  • page number

Some cases will have multiple citations which means they have been reported in a number of different law report series. The name of the series is usually abbreviated. Decode the abbreviations by using the Cardiff Index to Legal Abbreviations .

The Immigration and Naturalization Act (INA), the body of law governing current immigration policy, provides for an annual worldwide limit of 675,000 permanent immigrants, with certain exceptions for close family members. Congress and the President determine a separate number for refugee admissions. Immigration to the United States is based upon the following principles: the reunification of families, admitting immigrants with skills that are valuable to the U.S. economy, protecting refugees, and promoting diversity. This fact sheet provides basic information about how the U.S. legal immigration system is designed.

I. Family-Based Immigration

Family unification is an important principle governing immigration policy. The family-based immigration category allows U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents (LPRs) to bring certain family members to the United States. T ... Read more »
