#Joint JD - Master Degree Programs

The Law School offers the following four joint degree programs with other Harvard University schools:

  • JD/MBA with Harvard Business School. Students earn a JD and an MBA in four years spending the first two years of the program fully enrolled for one year at the Law School and for one year at the Business School (either can come first). In the third and fourth years of the program, students enroll in and take courses at both schools. For further information about the program see the JD/MBA Program Description .
  • JD/MPP or JD/MPA-ID with Harvard Kennedy School. Students earn a JD and either a Master in Public Policy (MPP) or a Master in Public Administration in International Development (MPA/ID) in four years. In the first two years students enroll for one full year at the Law School and one full year at the Kennedy School; either can come first. In the third and fourth years of the program students enroll jointly in and take courses at both schools. For more information see the HLS/HKS Joint Degree Program Description .
  • JD/MPH with the Harvard School of Public Health. Students earn a JD and an MPH in three academic years and one summer. Students begin at the Law School, then attend a summer session at the School of Public Health. In the second and third years of the program, students are enrolled at and take courses at both schools.   • JD/MUP with the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Students earn a JD from the Law School and a Master in Urban Planning (MUP) from the Graduate School of Design (GSD) in four years. In the course of this program, students are expected to complete one full year in residence at the Law School completing the required first-year program and one full year in residence at the GSD completing 40 units of GSD requirements; either can come first. Students jointly enroll at the Law School and GSD for four upper-level semesters. For more information, see the JD/MUP Program Description .

Students interested in one of the four joint degree programs described above must apply separately to each school. Each school will independently review and accept applicants. The Law School also offers an international joint degree:

  • JD/LLM. with the University of Cambridge Faculty of Law. This program offers Harvard JD candidates the opportunity to earn a Cambridge LLM and a Harvard JD in a total of three and a half years. Questions should be directed to Sara Zucker. Director, HLS International Legal Studies Programs.
