Sometimes scheduling conflicts make it impossible for your child to get all the credits he or she needs to graduate on time. Sometimes it's just a poor semester of Algebra. Or maybe your child just needs to repeat a course to be ready for the next level.

K 12 's online courses can give your child the edge needed to deal with these and other credit recovery issues. Because our courses are all online, your student will have the scheduling flexibility to retake courses to bring up that GPA, catch up to classmates, and get the credits necessary to graduate on time.

Summer versions of credit recovery courses are typically 4 weeks for one-semester courses; and 8 weeks for two-semester courses.

Real-World Examples of How Online Learning Can Help

• Fail semester one of Algebra I in the fall? Simply retake K 12 's semester one Algebra course in the spring, followed by semester two over the summer, and be perfectly caught up for the start of school in the fall.
• A student can take an entire K 12 course over the summer to deal with schedule conflicts that might make it impossible to get all the credits needed to graduate.

Not the Same-Old, Same-Old

Research indicates that simply repeating the same content a second time is not a successful practice.

Our courses provide a fresh set of content with new approaches to teach unlearned concepts. If students fail to initially grasp concepts, they may need a different representation of the concept in order to learn, along with ample opportunities to practice.

Our textbooks and materials are integrated with the online content. providing you with multiple ways to understand a concept and solve problems, or perform activities to reinforce the material. For students retaking content, computer-based study involves more individualized activity.

Mastery of concepts is critical for successful completion of the course. Our courses have lesson, unit, and semester assessments to ensure that students are grasping key objectives.

Classroom distractions are eliminated and kids can work at a pace that lets them focus on tougher topics. And most courses are ELL-supported.

Getting Course Credit

We know how important it is for students to receive the credit they deserve for completing K 12 courses. When students take a K 12 course with teacher support, they are eligible to receive a transcript from the accredited K 12 International Academy with the final grade(s) shown.

If a student is enrolled full time in another school, this transcript is often required before the credit is accepted and issued by the school or school district. We recommend that you or your child secure approval from your school or district before enrolling in the course, to ensure that they will accept the credit on your transcript. We recommend that you bring the K 12 course Scope and Sequence to your guidance counselor, who should be able to advise you regarding any additional steps that need to be completed before beginning the online course.
