For residents in these 23 states, the concealed carry laws in force in their home region are also in force in Ohio. As explained on the state Attorney General s website. the concealed carry laws in force in Ohio mirror the laws enacted in the 23 states named to the list.

Despite the reciprocity agreements, the Ohio Attorney General s office still urges residents in each of the mentioned states to check for any variances since some additional conditions still might apply.

In general terms, handgun owners do not need a permit to purchase a handgun and do not need to register a handgun. Additionally, the owner of a handgun does not need to obtain a license to own the firearm. But Ohio s laws do state a permit is needed to carry a handgun.

Ohio s gun laws further stipulate it is unlawful to sell a handgun to anyone under the age of 21, although there are a few caveats. For example, exceptions are made in cases of lawful hunting, sporting, and educational activities.
