The Law School is nestled in Washington Square Park on New York University’s main campus in Greenwich Village. Intellectual Life Master’s students take most classes with JD students, engage in over 40 extracurricular student groups, participate in specially-designed LLM programs and events, and live together in residence halls, creating enduring friendships and professional connections. The Graduate Division's distinguished history reaches back to the 1890s, when the Law School began awarding the LLM degree, and includes the 1945 founding of the oldest and most prestigious graduate tax program in the country. Today, the Law School leads the way in the study of law in a global context, and students from more than 50 countries bring their insights and experience to the classroom, forming friendships and professional connections that will last a lifetime. NYU Law's Manhattan location gives students access to the very best real-world practitioners and policy-makers. Visits from prominent government officials, members of the judiciary, and leaders of international organizations and NGOs, complement our faculty of leading scholars and innovative academic curriculum . Our Graduate Division—one of the largest and most diverse in the nation — offers nine different full-time LLM degrees: A traditional LLM program, and eight specialized ones. In the traditional program, students shape a course of study to meet their own objectives. In the specialized programs, they pursue most of their coursework in one area, with some flexibility to take classes in other areas of interest. Several of our master’s degrees can be completed on a part-time basis, including our programs for tax professionals: LLM in Taxation. Executive LLM. Advanced Professional Certificate. and the Master of Studies in Law (MSL) for non-lawyers.
