Degree Programs Levin College of Law

UF Law offers six different degrees, including the nation’s first S.J.D. in taxation. The degrees range from the well-known J.D. to post-J.D. degrees, which offers students the ability to customize their law school experience.

The three-year Juris Doctor curriculum is designed to develop students analytical ability, practical knowledge, communications skills, and an understanding of the codes of responsibility and ethics that are central to the practice of law.

The LL.M. in Comparative Law Program is designed almost exclusively for graduates of foreign law schools who want to enhance their understanding of the legal system of the United States of America and the English common law system from which it evolved.

This one-year post-J.D. degree provides an opportunity for experienced attorneys as well as recent law school graduates to spend an academic year full-time on the UF campus developing in-depth expertise in environmental and land use law.

This one-year course of study leads to the degree of Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation. The program is designed for full-time degree candidates, with classes held during the day.

The faculty of the College of Law have now established a new degree within the Graduate Tax Program, the LL.M. in International Taxation, which builds on and shares the tradition of excellence that marks the Graduate Tax Program.

The University of Florida Levin College of Law – through its Graduate Tax Program – offers the nation’s first Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.) in Taxation, designed for those interested in tax law teaching and scholarship.
