The Collaborative Law Institute of Minnesota

Separation and divorce is never easy. But with the help of trained legal, financial, and mental health professionals, conflict is reduced and you avoid the economic and emotional strain of litigation.

Collaborative practice, including Collaborative Law and interdisciplinary Collaborative Divorce (also called no-court divorce, divorce with dignity, and peaceful divorce), helps you resolve difficult financial and parenting issues in a way that empowers your family to transition successfully into your new life.

The purpose of the Collaborative process is to reach a settlement that benefits the entire family. The process is client-driven, rather than attorney-driven. Each person’s goals are identified and disagreements are resolved using an interest-based, problem solving approach.

Children’s needs are addressed especially well in the Collaborative process. There is no pain-free way to end a marriage, but respect allows you and your partner to create an environment in which you and your children can thrive.
