Projects Abroad’s Law and Human Rights internships offer a practical and constructive way to support positive action amongst marginalised groups and disadvantaged communities. Under experienced supervision, interns have a varied workload and the opportunity to gain a first-hand perspective of human rights advocacy and experience in legal casework in the developing world. Human Rights interns work overseas in areas such as - refugee rights - domestic violence - police accountability - discrimination - child trafficking - women’s rights, and - with young offenders. In Argentina. Ghana and South Africa. interns work in dedicated Projects Abroad Human Rights Offices which provide advocacy, raise much-needed awareness of human rights, monitor vulnerable areas of society and strive to resolve human rights abuses through community outreaches, social justice workshops, legal aid services and research projects. In other countries such as Mongolia. Cambodia and Tanzania. interns are placed in local NGOs focusing on land rights, employment issues and women’s rights. All these internships offer a unique and valuable international experience. To take part in the law placements in China, Mongolia and Cambodia, students should be studying law. I learned more in my month of interning then I ever could have imagined. It was the first time in my life I felt like I was doing tangible work, and at the same time, I was actually touching the lives of people." Emily Dennis Law Human Rights volunteer in South Africa
