3:03 PM UK Immigration Law - Asylum | ||||
Any citizen of another country may claim asylum in the United Kingdom if they are at risk of grave danger in their own home land. The UK Immigration law allows these refugees under the provisions of the 1951 United Nations convention relating to status of the refugees. The UK Border Agency scrutinizes the authenticity of such claim, and any eligible applicant may be given an asylum for five years to remain in the UK. The United Kingdom has long been known to shelter anyone who faces a serious threat to their lives and their children. But this British hospitality is subject to abuse by other people who claims asylum in the UK. What are bogus asylum seekers? According to the UK Immigration law. genuine asylum seeker has legitimate cause to stay in the UK; these are citizens of war torn countries mostly or facing genocide. Bogus individuals however, take advantage of the asylum program to exploit the UK economy and other opportunity that eluded them in their own country and therefore sees the UK as a land of opportunity. British citizens enjoy the privilege UK has to offer; excellent healthcare, employment and amazing public funds. Now, opportunists had their eye on the prize so they make up wild stories in order to claim asylum. Isn't that sad? While many had more confounding reasons why they did so, the UK Border Agency has now resolved this issue and designed a more stringent process only to flush out bogus claimants and if they are caught then they will be persecuted. Here are the rules: - Anyone who has no protection against violence and other atrocities by their own country - Anyone that has legitimate cause that they are facing genocide, persecution because of racial discrimination, or social groups, minorities, political and religious denominations. - Anyone who had fled their country Under the 1951 United Nations convention, anyone from another country who faces real danger of persecution may seek asylum in the UK. According to the UK immigration Law, the applicant must come in person to apply for such claim for verification and investigation. Anyone, who had been a victim of such atrocities and no longer in danger of facing them, are excluded from this asylum or refugee program. Any refugee may claim asylum the moment they enter the UK, usually at the port of entry. As in the old days, when seeking asylum, anyone can just appear before the immigration officer and claim asylum then the process begins. If anyone claims asylum and does so in the later times, then the asylum seekers will have to do it in the screening units which are in Liverpool and Croydon. The asylum seeker is then registered and the process then begins. There are circumstances where an individual claims asylum over an extended period of time but you will be in deep trouble if you do this. Under the UK immigration Law. an asylum seeker claims they fear eminent persecution from their country, will be given asylum in the UK. However, if you are from a European nation or what they call a safe country, you might be deported by the UK immigration to your own country and claim asylum there. Once the asylum has been granted, and individual is given a leave to remain in the UK temporarily, and live without restraint and the UK government supports them with government projects such as housing and healthcare. Until the need for asylum seekers to stay in the UK stands, asylum seekers will not be sent home until the threat is over. EzineArticles.com/?expert=Janet_Grace
