If you are still in undergrad and you are considering law school, this article will give you a better understanding of which undergraduate majors are the most beneficial for law school admissions. and how your choice of major might effect your law school application.

In an ideal society, all current UCC Maritime laws would be replaced with the 20 Universal Laws:

This law supersedes even the fundamental law of Karma, for harmony is the supreme potential of balance.

The purpose of Karma is to attain harmony.

If you throw a rock into a pond you disturb the harmony of the pond, you are the cause, the effect is the splash and the ripples that flows out and back until harmony is restored.

Similarly, your disharmonious actions flow out into the Universe and back upon you, lifetime after life time, until eventually your own harmony is restored.

Until you have resolved your Karma and fulfilled your Dharma, which are the deeds you must do, you will continue to reincarnate into sequential lifetime upon the earth. Neither God nor the Lords of Karma bestow suffering upon you during these lives, you and you alone decide what you most need to learn and in your earthly sojourns, and for each life experience you seek out o ... (redirected from Federal Labor Law )

A work stoppage; the concerted refusal of employees to perform work that their employer has assigned to them in order to force the employer to grant certain demanded concessions, such as increased wages or improved employment conditions.

A work stoppage is generally the last step in a labor-management dispute over wages and working conditions. Because employees are not paid when they go on strike and employers lose productivity, both sides usually seek to avoid it. When negotiations have reached an impasse, however, a strike may be the only bargaining tool left for employees.

Employees can strike for economic reasons, for improvement of their working conditions, or for the mutual aid and protection of employees in another union. In addition, even if they do not have a union, employees can properly agree to stop working as a group; in that case they are entitled to all the protections that organized strikers a ... of Ownership in Real Property

Property law is the area of law that governs the various forms of ownership in real property (land as distinct from personal or movable possessions) and in personal property, within the common law legal system. In the civil law system, there is a division between movable and immovable property. Movable property roughly corresponds to personal property, while immovable property corresponds to real estate or real property, and the associated rights and obligations thereon.

The concept, idea or philosophy of property underlies all property law. In some jurisdictions, historically all property was owned by the monarch and it devolved through feudal land tenure or other feudal systems of loyalty and fealty.

Though the Napoleonic code was among the first government acts of modern times to introduce the notion of absolute ownership into statute, protection of personal property rights was present in medieval Islamic law and jurisprudenc ... Read more »

Lawyers interpret the law through actions and words for the protection of an individual, a business concern or an idea. They must be widely versed in a great many areas: the law, economics, history, human motivation and behavior, and the practicalities of day to day living. The education of lawyers never ends because they must constantly be abreast of information which may be of use to the client.

As our society grows in complexity, the lawyer's role grows as well. No longer is it possible for one single lawyer to handle every aspect of every client's legal needs. Although well informed as to the tax implications of stock market transactions, a lawyer may not know enough to cover adequately the client's requirements for divorce proceedings, for instance. For this reason, the vast majority of today's lawyers are specifying the types of clients and cases which they will serve. It is important to understand, however, that even though the legal profession itself is specializing, ... Read more »

There s a little-known way to maximize the value of a federal trademark registration recording it with U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Taking this extra step (and paying the $190 fee required to do so) puts your trademark on Customs radar screen. It helps put the government to work for you stopping counterfeit goods bearing your trademark at the border.

Besides alerting Customs about its mark, the owner of a federal trademark registration can provide additional information to help stop counterfeit goods from entering the States, such as the place authentic goods are manufactured; the authorized port of entry into the States; and what authentic goods look like. When Customs inspects goods bearing the registrant s trademark that do not match this criteria, it will seize the goods and contact the trademark owner to determine whether the goods are real or fake.

Customs only inspects small percentage of goods that are imported into the States. To be sure, plen ... Read more »

#Best Schools Online MBAs in USA 2015

Masters of Business Administration (MBA) are postgraduate degree programs in management, in their own league. The MBA is the traditional academic offer for management education. The universities answer to questions from business for a precise and profound qualification for the future and modern managers based on a standardized title. It is frequently shortened as MBA or M.B.A. and in opposition to the Master of Science (MSc) or the Master of Arts (MA) it without a doubt points to one program solely.

MBA is a program designed for students who want to further their academic skills and apply them to actual real-life business situations. It guides students to reflect and reposition themselves in terms of choosing their future careers. Students gain a broad understanding of the key functions of a range of business areas and use these skills to contribute to strategic direction of a business.

#Blog Law Blog

Jennifer Murphy Romig on Legal Blogging

Here is the abstract:

This article brings scholarly attention to the blog posts, tweets, updates and other writing on social media that many lawyers generate and many others would consider generating, if they had the time and skill to do so. In the broadest terms, this genre of writing is “public legal writing”: writing by lawyers not for any specific client but for dissemination to the public or through wide distribution channels, particularly the Internet. Legal blogging is a good entry point into public legal writing because legalblog posts often share some analytical features of longer articles alongside conversational conventions typical of writing on social media. Legal blogging is certainly not new, but this article brings new attention to it.

The article begins by reviewing helpful (non-legal) advice from two recent writing guidebooks, Christopher Johnson’s Microstyle: The Art of Writing Little ... Read more »

Question: What traffic laws apply to bicyclists?

Answer: When ridden on any roadway a bicycle rider has all of the rights and responsibilities of any vehicle (RCW 46.61.755). Unless bicycles are specifically excepted, all traffic laws and rules apply to bicycles. Bicyclists who violate traffic laws are subject to a citation.

Question: Should bicyclists ride with the flow of traffic or facing traffic?

Answer: Bicyclists should always ride with the flow of traffic (RCW 46.61.100). The law requires this. Riding with the flow of traffic greatly increases safety by making bicycles visible and predictable to other drivers. Riding against traffic is a leading cause of bicycle accidents.

Question: What position in the lane should a bicyclist use?

    Answer:

    1) Bicyclists traveling at the speed of traffic may use the middle of the lane.

    2) A bicyclist traveling at a speed less than the normal flow ... Read more »

The 1947 Taft-Hartley amendments to the National Labor Relations Act (1935) sanctioned a state s right to pass laws that prohibit unions from requiring a worker to pay dues, even when the worker is covered by a union-negotiated collective bargaining agreement. Within a couple of years of the ammendment s passage, 12 states passed these so-called right-to-work (RTW) laws, as did many other states in the intervening years.1 Although there has been an extensive amount of research on the effect of right-to-work laws on union density, organizing efforts, and industrial development (see Moore (1998) and Moore and Newman (1985) for literature overviews), there has been surprisingly little examination of the perhaps more important issue of right-to-work laws effect on wages.

The limited amount of research that does examine the effect of right-to-work laws on wages can be divided into two areas: RTW laws effects on union wage premiums or the average effects of these ... Read more »

New York City Police Department Chevy Impala patrol car

Police or law enforcement agents or agencies are those empowered to use force and other forms of coercion and legal means to effect public and social order. The term is most commonly associated with police departments of a state that are authorized to exercise the police power of that state within a defined legal or territorial area of responsibility.

The word police comes from the Latin politia (“civil administration”), which itself derives from the Ancient Greek ?????, for polis ("city"). [1] Alternative names for police force include constabulary, gendarmerie, police department, police service, or law enforcement agency, and members can be police officers, constables, troopers, sheriffs, rangers, or peace officers.

    #Breaks (Rest - Meal Periods)

Breaks and meal period regulations apply to employees and employers covered by the Colorado Minimum Wage Order Number 31.  For individuals covered under Colorado Minimum Wage Order, the following rules apply.

    Meal Periods

Employees shall be entitled to an uninterrupted and 'duty free' meal period of at least a thirty minute duration when the scheduled work shift exceeds five consecutive hours of work. The employees must be completely relieved of all duties and permitted to pursue personal activities to qualify as a non-work,uncompensated period of time. When the nature of the business activity or other circumstances exist that makes an uninterrupted meal period impractical, the employee shall be permitted to consume an “on-duty” meal while performing duties. Employees shall be permitted to fully consume a meal of choice “on the job” and be fully compensated for the “on-duty” meal period without any loss of time or compensation.

    Introduction

Reflection in computing is the ability of a program to examine its own structure, particularly through types; it s a form of metaprogramming. It s also a great source of confusion.

In this article we attempt to clarify things by explaining how reflection works in Go. Each language s reflection model is different (and many languages don t support it at all), but this article is about Go, so for the rest of this article the word reflection should be taken to mean reflection in Go .

    Types and interfaces

Because reflection builds on the type system, let s start with a refresher about types in Go.

Go is statically typed. Every variable has a static type, that is, exactly one type known and fixed at compile time: int. float32. *MyType. []byte. and so on. If we declare

then i has type int and j has type MyInt. The variables i and j have distinct static types and, although they have the same underlying type, they cannot be ass ... Read more »

#Britkid Serious Issues - UK IMMIGRATION LAW

    UK IMMIGRATION LAW

    The basics

In some ways the law is very strict about who can come and live in the U.K. People from most countries in the world - like Brazil, or Russia - have to get a visa just to get past the airport, even if they are only coming as a tourist.

Again, for most people, if they want to work in the U.K. it's even harder than getting a tourist visa. You can only work here if you're doing a specialist job that a British person can't do. This applies to people like footballers too - a Brazilian player can't be given a contract unless the government agrees.

    The European Union

But this is not true for everyone. Anyone from most European countries can come here without a visa, and we can go to their countries, because we're all in the European Union. We can travel freely either as tourists or to get work. If large numbers of British people wanted to go to Germany or France to work, ... Read more »

#Bullying and harassment – Employee entitlements – Fair Work Ombudsman

Everyone has a right not to be bullied or harassed at work.

    What is bullying

A worker is bullied at work if:

    • a person or group of people repeatedly act unreasonably towards them or a group of workers
    • the behaviour creates a risk to health and safety.

Unreasonable behaviour includes victimising, humiliating, intimidating or threatening. Whether a behaviour is unreasonable can depend on whether a reasonable person might see the behaviour as unreasonable in the circumstances.

    Examples of bullying include:

    • behaving aggressively
    • teasing or practical jokes
    • pressuring someone to behave inappropriately
    • excluding someone from work-related events or
    • unreasonable work demands.

    What isn't bullying

    What Is Bullying?

Bullying can take place in or out of school and in person or through other means of communication. When it occurs online, in, for example, emails, text messages, or in posts on websites, it is referred to as cyberbullying. Bullying can be verbal or physical, and when physical, it can be directed against a person, a person s property, or be used to intimidate, rather than inflict damage to the person or his or her property.
