In Autumn 2015 the government is introducing a Help to Buy ISA for first time home buyers. More information on these new ISAs can be found here.

This year (2015) the government has introduced new powers to tackle anti-social behaviour. More information on anti-social behaviour and what the police and courts can do can be found here.

A civil liberties group has warned that teenagers are being branded sex offenders for sending sexually explicit text messages to each other.

Backlash, an organisation providing academic, legal and campaigning resources defending freedom of sexual expression, says that branding 16 to 18 year olds criminals for 'sexting' underscores the tension between laws designed to prevent child exploitation and the modern era of teenage sexual expression.

New surveillance rules designed to assist the French intelligence authorities in preventing terrorist attacks have been approved by the French parliament.

The new law, which was passed by a comfortable majority of 438 votes to 86 in the lower house National Assembly, comes in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo attacks in Paris at the turn of the year, which left 17 people dead.
