#Outside Scholarships, Admissions: Northwestern University School of Law The following scholarships are administered and awarded by outside organizations. Please note that the organizations may change their deadlines and/or requirements, so you should consult the organizations' website for the most up-to-date information. There may also be additional opportunities for outside scholarships available. Please see our External Resources webpage for more information. If you receive any outside scholarship, you must notify the Chicago Office of Financial Aid. as the scholarship will reduce the amount of loan funding for which you are eligible. Outside scholarships have been organized into four different categories and may be posted in more than one category:
Diversity ScholarshipsAmerican Association for Justice: Richard D. Hailey AAJ Law Student Scholarships | Application forms and guidelines AAJ s Minority Caucus will award $5,000 scholarships to African American, Hispanic, Asian American, Native American, and Biracial Law Student Members who are entering their first, second, or third year of law school. American Bar Association Legal Opportunity Scholarship | Application forms and guidelines The ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund will award $5,000 of financial assistance annually to each scholarship recipient attending an ABA-accredited law school. An award made to an entering first-year student may be renewable for two additional years, resulting in financial assistance totaling $15,000 during his or her time in law school. American Indian Graduate Center Cobell Scholars Program | Application forms and guidelines The Cobell Scholars Program is intended to provide financial assistance in the form of scholarships to American Indian and Alaska Native students to defray the cost of attendance at both post-secondary vocational schools and institutions of higher education, including graduate and professional schools. The Law Student Diversity Scholarship Program is open to second year minority and women law students. Two scholarships in the amount of $10,000 each are awarded annually. Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence and service to the profession, community, and to the cause of diversity. Donald W. Banner Diversity Scholarship for Law Students | Application forms and guidelines The Donald W. Banner Diversity Scholarship is part of Banner Witcoff's commitment to fostering the development of intellectual property lawyers from diverse backgrounds. Current law students at accredited schools are eligible to apply. DuPage Association of Women Lawyers: Judge Helen C. Kinney Scholarship | Application forms and guidelines The Judge Helen C. Kinney Scholarship is open to all first, second, and third year women law students who have a DuPage County connection and are enrolled in an accredited law school in Illinois. Iranian American Bar Association | Application forms and guidelines IABA issues one or more scholarship each year to law students in good standing enrolled in an accredited law school in the United States. The scholarships are designed to recognize the commitment of law students to the advancement of the Iranian American community. Japanese American Bar Association Educational Foundation | Application forms and guidelines The Japanese American Bar Association Educational Foundation (JEF) was created in 2006 to facilitate the awarding of scholarships to deserving law students and/or recent law school graduates. Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago s Academic Scholarship Program | Application forms and guidelines The LSAC Diversity Committee Writing Competition will award one student from each of three qualifying categories $5,000 for their writing piece on best practices for recruitment and retention of students of color and students from underrepresented groups in law schools. Lionel Murphy Foundation: Postgraduate Scholarships | Application forms and guidelines A number of Australian and overseas postgraduate scholarships are awarded annually by the Trustees of the Lionel Murphy Foundation. These scholarships are known as the Lionel Murphy Postgraduate Scholarships. Minority Corporate Counsel Association: Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr. Scholarship Program | Application forms and guidelines The Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) is excited to announce the establishment of the Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr. Scholarship Program. Successful applicants to the scholarship program, who are reviewed by its Selection Committee, will be outstanding individuals who have been accepted to an accredited U.S. law school, and have demonstrated leadership and an interest in and commitment to diversity.
