John Law (usually pronounced Jean Lass by contemporary French people) (baptised 21 April 1671 – died 21 March 1729) was a Scottish economist who believed that money was only a means of exchange that did not constitute wealth in itself and that national wealth depended on trade. He was responsible for the Mississippi Bubble and a chaotic economic collapse in France.
Paper Money endorsed by John Law, 1718
Law urged the establishment of a national bank to create and increase instruments of credit and the issue of banknotes backed by land, gold. or silver. The first manifestation of Law's system came when he had returned to his homeland and contributed to the debates leading to the Treaty of Union 1707 with a text entitled Money and Trade Consider'd with a Proposal for Supplying the Nation with Money (1705). After the Union of the Scottish and English parliaments, Law's legal situation obliged him to go into exile again.

#General Information About Divorce
What do you have to prove to get a divorce?
Indiana has "no fault" divorce, which means you don't have to prove either spouse did anything wrong to get a divorce. (A divorce is sometimes called "dissolution of marriage"; both mean the same thing). The spouse who wants a divorce just has to tell the court that the marriage is "irretrievably broken" to get a divorce. There is really nothing the other spouse can do to stop a divorce.
Do the husband and wife both have to live in Indiana to get a divorce here?
Either you or your spouse must be a resident of Indiana for six months before you file for divorce, and be a resident of the county in which you are filing for three months before you can file for divorce.
How much does it cost to get a divorce?
The court will charge a filing fee which will vary between $132 and $152, depending on which county you are in. You usually have to pay this fee in cash or by

A law firm specializing in nursing home abuse, Brayton Purcell LLP, states that senior citizens are subject to five main forms of elder abuse. These elders have either been physically abused, sexually abused, emotionally abused, taken advantage of financially or experienced neglect.
HelpGuide.org, a group founded by Robert and Jeanne Segal to help people deal with abuse, among other things, guides us in understanding more about this abuse. This group, also made up of health experts, writers and web professionals, has discovered that "more than half a million reports of abuse against elderly Americans reach authorities every year, and millions more cases go unreported."
HelpGuide.org has discovered some of the reasons or motivations of the abusers. In some cases, the senior is so frail that he is not able to "stand up to bullying or to fight back if attacked." Some seniors are conned or taken advantage of because they are no longer able to see, hear or think clearly.

#Gifts for Incoming First Year Law Students
A friend recently asked for gift suggestions to give to a new incoming law student. This request had a certain irony, as those who know me well know that I am completely gift-challenged (and doubly ironic, as another friend had asked me about gifts to give law professors ). So, at the risk of further exposing my gift-incompetence to the world, here s the suggestions I made:
Books to help with the first year
* Eugene Volokh, Academic Legal Writing [always check for the latest edition]. I can t tell you how many 2Ls and 3Ls have told me that they wished they had read Volokh s book as a 1L. There are many other books in this genre, such as Fischl, Getting to Maybe .
* Bluebook . Every 1L is going to have to buy it, and worse yet, they will curse having had to spend money on something so worthless. So this is an ideal 1L gift much needed, often used, and something better received than purchased.

The profession of a lawyer is specialized into many categories. One such category is the criminal lawyer. The criminal lawyer deals only with criminal cases. There are separate laws and courts for criminals. Criminal law is a vast subject; hence, separate and specially educated lawyers are required to work in this field. To know in more detail, see the criminal lawyer job description given for your read.
There are two sides to this profession, either you can have your own private practice where you could represent criminals against the state, or you could become a public prosecutor and represent the state against criminals that are arrested.
The criminal lawyers study criminal law in detail. While taking education, they have to specialize in the subject of law. If they are representing the state against the criminal, they have to file all the necessary documents in the court on behalf of the state. They have to get sworn testimonials from all the witnesses and ask th

Technically, Federal labor laws deal with employer-union relationships and Federal employment laws deal with employer-employee relationships.
But the terms are often used interchangeably. This section includes research resources for both, even though it more often refers to Federal labor laws .
When researching whether or not your employer committed a wrongdoing under a Federal labor law, it's important to know that employment is at will in virtually all states.
It's also important to know that your employee rights are protected only under specific, corresponding state or Federal labor laws, regulations or constitutional provisions, or by sound morality or public policy .
For example, if your boss is a jerk who generally treats you poorly on the job, your bad boss is not necessarily violating a labor law, however unfair or unethical his or her behavior might be. That's because there is no bad-boss Federal labor law per se. Additionally, your

What sets Chicago apart from other law schools is our unabashed enthusiasm for the life of the mind - the conviction that ideas matter, that they are worth discussing, and that legal education should devote itself to learning for learning's sake, not just for earning's sake. Chicago students enjoy their classes and do not simply endure them. Eminent faculty teach first-year courses because, as committed teachers, they want to share ideas with students. We are passionate - even intense - about ideas. Our energy creates camaraderie that spills over from inside the classroom to outside the classroom, where we continue our conversations in the more relaxed atmospheres of the student lounge, restaurants, clubs, and sports stadiums.
Critical reasoning is a crucial part of the University of Chicago Law School experience - some would say it's our defining characteristic. Our faculty and students are deeply involved in the life of the mind, and delight in spending their days challeng

For a company to ask you what kinds of meds you are on is ok. That is why you take a physical with their doctor where you list any meds and or medical conditions. From there it is decided if you are fit for duty.
Same goes for the coast guard.
Not all companies use the standard Coast Guard form for their physicals. Some companies take it step farther than the coast guard basic physical form and requirements because they will be insuring your health and your life.

#Get Information About Child Labor
Today, approximately 80% of all students work sometime during high school. Child labor laws ensure that our youth have the necessary time to pursue their education and be employed in a safe workplace. Georgia's child labor law was written in 1878 whereas the federal child labor law is provided for under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) enacted in 1938.
When there are differences between federal and state laws pertaining to child labor, the law providing the more stringent standard is observed.
The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) Child Labor section administers and monitors the guidelines and restrictions for the employment of youth who have not yet reached their 18th birthday and performs the following functions:

#Government plans to amend anti-dowry harassment law
Section 498A was introduced in early eighties to protect married women from being subjected to cruelty.
Plans are afoot to amend a criminal law that will allow compromise and settlement between husband and wife at the onset of trial in dowry harassment cases, a move that comes after frequent misuse of the provision to trouble men and their near relatives.
A draft note for the Union Cabinet seeking to amend Section 498A of the IPC, making it compoundable, has been sent to the Law Ministry for drawing up the draft bill, a Home Ministry official said.
Now, the offence is non-compoundable and non-bailable which provides for immediate arrest of the accused. Conciliatory effort by the warring sides is virtually impossible.
A husband or his family members are presumed to be guilty till they prove their innocence in the court. The guilty is punishable with a jail term of up to three years.

#Godwin s Law s Law - Uncyclopedia, the content-free encyclopedia
From Uncyclopedia, the content-free encyclopedia
Mike Godwin, the inventor of Godwin's Law.
Godwin's Law's Law. also known as "Godwin's Rule of Godwin's Law analogies", states that: “As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison invoking Godwin’s Law approaches 1.” Godwin’s Law's Law is often cited in online discussions as a deterrent against comparing comparisons with Hitler or the Nazi regime with Godwin’s Law to void an argument that might otherwise be valid, to void the voiding of that argument.
Godwin’s Law's Law merely makes an observation that as an online discussion grows, if the probability of invoking Hitler approaches 1, then the probability of invoking Godwin’s Law approaches 1 as well. By citing Godwin’s Law's Law, however, the user is usually implying that Godwin’s Law does not make a Hitler comparison invalid, as Hitler comparisons can sometimes

In 1906, Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto created a mathematical formula to describe the unequal distribution of wealth in his country, observing that twenty percent of the people owned eighty percent of the wealth. In the late 1940s, Dr. Joseph M. Juran inaccurately attributed the 80/20 Rule to Pareto, calling it Pareto s Principle. While it may be misnamed, Pareto s Principle or Pareto s Law as it is sometimes called, can be a very effective tool to help you manage effectively.
After Pareto made his observation and created his formula, many others observed similar phenomena in their own areas of expertise. Quality Management pioneer, Dr. Joseph Juran, working in the US in the 1930s and 40s recognized a universal principle he called the vital few and trivial many and reduced it to writing. In an early work, a lack of precision on Juran s part made it appear that he was applying Pareto s observations about economics to a broader body of work. The name Pareto s Principle stu

The Combined JD/PhD (Philosophy) Program enables students to pursue a profound investigation of the complex issues that lie at the intersection between law and philosophy.
The program allows students to complete the two degrees one year faster than if they were pursued separately. At the end of that period, the student will have completed the JD degree and reached the dissertation stage of the PhD in philosophy.
Admission to the PhD program requires either a four-year bachelor's degree or a Master's degree in philosophy, from a recognized university. A student seeking admission on the basis of a four-year bachelor's degree must have completed at least six full courses in philosophy (twelve semester courses), with minimum average grades of B+ in the applicants' overall program and A- in the philosophy courses. A student seeking admission on the basis of a master's degree in philosophy must have an average grade of at least an A- in that program.

Format: Paperback
I just finished my Contracts final, but I will not blame my grade on this book.
This does what it is supposed to. It supplements the material that the Prof. presents in class. If you are not sure what the modern rule is, this is where you go. If you are not sure if there is an exception, this is where you go. If you are not sure what the basic functions of the rule is, this is where you check. If you are not sure what Restatement or UCC section applies, this is where you check.
This book is great for supplementing your notes and filling in the gray areas. For that, it is invaluable, but like all commercial outlines, it cannot replace your notes.

The HIPAA law is a combination of regulations aimed at reducing waste, fraud and abuse in the health care industry. It is intended to simplify the industry as a whole. HIPAA ensures continued insurance coverage for American workers and their families as they change jobs. It also enacts strict security standards for the protection of personal health information. Besides offering federally mandated protection for personal information, the law is expected to significantly lower the number of fraudulent practices in the health industry as well as to improve data storage systems.
The HIPAA law does more than prohibit pre-existing condition clauses. It also requires that insurance is offered to all employees (with the exception of very small businesses) regardless of health information. Insurance providers are also forbidden to charge higher premiums based on the health information of a company's employees. This way, health insurance coverage remains affordable even through life c

#Gingrich’s book-selling efforts test campaign laws - The Washington Post
You would never know on the campaign trail that Newt Gingrich is no longer at the helm of his for-profit enterprise. There, his presidential candidate activities and book-selling business mingle as one.
In a hotel ballroom in Naples, Fla. last month, Gingrich regaled political supporters with a rousing stump speech — then sidled over to a table in the corner to sell books. In Charleston, S.C. a few days later, hundreds of fans crammed into a historic theater to listen to his pitch to be the next president — then lined up in the lobby to buy books.
The story is the same virtually everywhere Gingrich goes: a political speech here, a book-signing there — often in the same place. And Gingrich isn’t just selling one book. He has produced nonfiction, novels and documentary movies, and his wife, Callista, recently wrote a children’s book that she sells just about everywhere they go.

#God-Given Rights
As legal researchers, we receive many inquiries in the area of law, especially pertaining to so-called "sovereignty." One of the major inquiries we receive consistently from people interested in learning law and/or becoming so-called "sovereign" is what edition of Black's Law Dictionary ("BLD") should they purchase.
Considering there are many editions, this is a good question. Our answer is: the 5th edition!
Black's Law Dictionary, 5th edition is the best "BLD" to purchase and study. Most of the lawfully successful people learned American law from studying this edition of "BLD."
You see, the 5th edition of "BLD" is reportedly the edition modern day judges use in American courthouses, which are really merchant tribunals based upon how they operate today. Courts are measures and machines for collecting cash for governments these days. You especially see this all the time pertaining to traffic cases. However, this is not the fault of judges, t

Throughout American history, numerous drinking laws have been passed in order to regulate the use of alcohol in society. From restricting alcohol completely in the past to mandating who is legally permitted to consume alcoholic beverages today, these laws are intended to protect U.S. citizens from the dangers that often accompany excessive alcohol use—and lawmakers are under constant pressure to pass tougher and tougher drinking and driving laws. As a result, it should come as no surprise to learn that driving under the influence (DUI) is a serious criminal offense in all 50 states.
The exact laws regarding alcohol use vary based on the state and jurisdiction. In many areas, local statutes limit when and where alcohol can be sold. For example, while alcohol may only be purchased during specified hours in one location, it may be available 24 hours a day in another county or city. Likewise, in areas where the sale of alcohol is prohibited on certain days (usually Sundays), res

The remainder of this article collectively refers to all of the laws above as harassment laws just to suit its purpose.
A harassing work bully can be anybody under the so-called harassment laws, including a boss. coworker, and even a non-employee (e.g. independent contractor or client). No one is immune from violating the laws.
Additionally, harassment laws allow anyone adversely affected by unwelcome, discriminatory conduct to file a discrimination charge against a harasser directly with the EEOC (or state equivalent) or through an attorney. even if he or she was not the intended victim.
However, before filing an EEOC charge against your employer under a harassment law, it's a good idea to try to stop the unwelcome conduct by following your employer's anti-harassment policies to the letter; otherwise, your employer might be able to use the so-called Faragher-Ellerth defense against you.

#Graduate Degree Requirements
Students may work towards three graduate degrees—Master of Science (a terminal degree), Master of Engineering (a terminal degree), or Doctor of Philosophy—in one of five areas: Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, Computational Science and Engineering, Computer Science, and Engineering Sciences.
