#Personal Injury Law: The Basics
The fact that mishaps are fairly commonplace does not detract from the pain and confusion that can result when an accident or injury happens to you or a loved one. If you decide to take steps toward protecting your legal rights after an accident or injury, you may have a number of general questions about personal injury cases.
What is a Personal Injury Case?
Personal injury cases are legal disputes that arise when one person suffers harm from an accident or injury, and someone else might be legally responsible for that harm. A personal injury case can become formalized through civil court proceedings that seek to find others legally at fault through a court judgment or, as is much more common, such disputes may be resolved through informal settlement before any lawsuit is filed:
- Formal Lawsuit Unlike criminal cases, which are initiated by the government, a formal personal injury case typically starts wh

#Godwin s Law - TV Tropes
Also known as "Godwin's Rule of Nazi Analogies". Originated by Richard Sexton, and popularized by Mike Godwin of the Electronic Frontier Foundation (and of the Wikimedia Foundation until 2010) in 1990 in the form:
As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one.
"Any off-topic mention of Hitler or Nazis will cause the thread it is mentioned in to come to an irrelevant and off-topic end very soon; every thread on Usenet has a constantly-increasing probability to contain such a mention."
It is generally accepted that whoever is the first to play the "Hitler card" has lost the argument as well as any trace of respect, as having to resort to comparing your adversary to the most infamous mass-murdering dictator in history generally means you've run out of better arguments. Thus, once such a comparison is made, the thread is finished and whoever mentioned the Nazis ha

MA in History: Military History
An online school system has the same philosophy and vision as traditional schools and colleges in terms of enhancing the knowledge of the communities. The only difference is the mechanism in which the philosophy and vision is rolled out. Hundreds and thousands of students are now enrolled in various online school systems across the US. The online school systems are building skill sets of the individuals and enhancing the core competencies of professionals from all walks of life.
Advantages of an online school system
The following are the main advantages of enrolling in an online school system:
- Peace of mind: With such a hectic lifestyle of millions of people, it becomes very difficult to take out the time to travel to different parts of the city and become available for specific time slots within a day to attend classes. An online school system takes away the hassles and the complexities associ

I just finish and pass my 1L and moving into 2L. I think this is the law school to attend if you are not just studying but working as well. This is also the school for you if you have hard time getting into an aba school.

What we call criminal law broadly refers to federal and state laws that make certain behavior illegal and punishable by imprisonment and/or fines. Our legal system is largely comprised of two different types of cases: civil and criminal. Civil cases are disputes between people regarding the legal duties and responsibilities they owe each other. Criminal cases, meanwhile, are charges pursued by prosecutors for violations of criminal statutes.
Criminal Law: History
In the United States, British common law ruled during colonial times. Common law is a process that establishes and updates rules that govern some nations. Once America became an independent nation, it adopted the U.S. Constitution as "the supreme law of the land." The U.S. continues to employ a common law system, which works in combination with state and federal statutes. As far as criminal laws are concerned, each state has its own penal code which defines what is or is not a crime, the severity of a

Adultery laws differ from state to state and can leave a person confused about their situation and the legal recourse available to them. Below are five of the top adultery and infidelity questions answered by Family Lawyers.
Adultery for the most part is not a crime and is not considered a criminal offense in most states. However each state may differ on statutes and criminal laws. In the few states that adultery is illegal or still considered a crime, the offense is often deemed a petty crime or misdemeanor and usually only inflicts light fines. To know state specific statutes relating to adultery legalities, it's best to ask an Expert.

Considering whether we were experiencing the beginning of the end of print. I ended my previous post with the prediction that the law text book would be the last print format left standing (after journals, law reports, looseleafs).
I stand by that. The printed (and bound) book is wonderful information package, designed 500 years ago and changed not a lot since then. We love books their look, their feel, their portability, their associations. It will be a long, long time before they become an endangered species.
Even the law book will die slowly. But what would accelerate its decline? What is the future law book? Scott Vine and Jordan Furlong have offered their thoughts.
Scott loves books as above and sees the lawyer of the future carrying an e-book reader. holding all the texts (s)he might need but preserving the look and feel of the print versions.
But we know that law books are different. The law changes constantl

#Gun control laws
Baltimore, which despite Maryland's restrictive gun control laws, consistently has among the worst violent crime problems of any major U.S. city. Well, like salt in a wound, the city has now been forced to suspend a local anti-crime program after police seized guns and other contraband from one of the program's offices. The Washington Times reported on Wednesday that nine people have been arrested.
Among those arrested this week on guns and narcotics charges is one man previously sentenced to 12 years in prison on narcotics charges, another man twice acquitted of murder, and two others arrested on robbery and assault charges in the incident that led police to investigate Safe Streets this time. In response to concerns about the decision to employ ex-felons for the program, a city spokeswoman said, "[w]e do not see it as a risk but rather as a privilege to give returned citizens a second chance at hope and employment."

What is a bank account garnishment?
A bank account levy (also referred to as bank account garnishment,) occurs when a creditor is able to take all, or a portion of, the money in a debtor’s bank account for payment of an overdue debt. In most cases, a court order is required for this to occur, but the federal government can issue a bank account levy administratively (without going through a court.) There are numerous specific laws on both the federal and state level that apply to bank account garnishments.
Bank Levy Process
When a bank receives a notice of a levy, they must immediately freeze the debtor’s account. In addition to being unable to make a withdrawal, if your bank account is frozen, any outstanding checks or automatic debit card payments won’t clear (unless there are enough exempt funds in the account) – so be sure to make alternate arrangements.
If this wasn’t done, the garnishee would simply withdraw the

Civil cases usually involve private disputes between persons or organizations. Criminal cases involve an action that is considered to be harmful to society as a whole. Below is a comparison of the key differences between civil and criminal cases.
A civil case begins when a person or entity (such as a corporation or the government), called the plaintiff, claims that another person or entity (the defendant) has failed to carry out a legal duty owed to the plaintiff. Both the plaintiff and the defendant are also referred to as "parties" or "litigants." The plaintiff may ask the court to tell the defendant to fulfill the duty, or make compensation for the harm done, or both. Legal duties include respecting rights established under the Constitution or under federal or state law.
Civil suits are brought in both state and federal courts. An example of a civil case in a state court would be if a citizen (including a corporation) sued another citizen for not living up to a co

#Greening EU Competition Law and Policy
Looking for an inspection copy?
Description
One of the fundamental challenges currently facing the EU is that of reconciling its economic and environmental policies. Nevertheless, the role of environmental protection in EU competition law and policy has often been overlooked. Recent years have witnessed a shift in environmental regulation from reliance on command and control to an increased use of market-based environmental policy instruments such as environmental taxes, green subsidies, emissions trading and the encouragement of voluntary corporate green initiatives. By bringing the market into environmental policy, such instruments raise a host of issues that competition law must address. This interdisciplinary treatment of the interaction between these key EU policy areas challenges the view that EU competition policy is a special case, insulated from environmental concerns by the overriding efficiency imperative, and put
