In order to earn a Juris Doctor degree, a Loyola Law student must earn 87 credit hours; in addition to the first-year curriculum below, degree candidates must also complete an upper-level writing requirement, Constitutional Law II, Ethical Lawyering, Evidence, and a breadth course. The required first-year curriculum includes Contracts, Criminal Law, Property, Torts, Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, and Legal Research and Writing. In addition to the LL.M. program in Bologna, Loyola Law also offers several summer study abroad opportunities in Costa Rica, China, Italy, and London. Loyola Law has three student-run law journals: Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review . A majority of Loyola Law students take the California Bar Exam and, in 2007, achieved a 74.9% pass rate. The overall pass rate for the California Bar Exam was 65%. Loyola Law reports that from the graduating class, 94% were employed as of April . Sixty-three percent went to law firms, 15% pursued public interest positions, 14% went into business and industry, 6% entered government careers (including judicial clerkships), and 2% entered academia.
