About Dr. Tracy Gray

Biography

Tracy Gray, Ph.D. is the Director of two OSEP funded projects, the National Center for Technology Innovation (NCTI) and the Center for Implementing Technology in Education (CITEd)at the American Institutes for Research (AIR). NCTI provide technical assistance and support to researchers, developers, and vendors and CITEd works with practitioners on the implementation of strategies to integrate technologies into classroom instruction.

Dr. Gray is a nationally recognized expert in education and technology who has led numerous projects in the U.S. and abroad that examine the impact of technology on educational achievement. She has published and lectured widely on issues related to the integration of emerging technologies into the classroom and after-school programs.

As the Vice President for Youth Services at the Morino Institute, she was responsible for the design and implementation of the Youth Development Collaborative (YDC). This effort focused on the complexities of effectively integrating technology into schools and community-based organizations. Under Dr. Gray's leadership, the findings from the YDC led to the publication of the YouthLearn Guide: A Creative Approach to Working With Youth and Technology and the YouthLearn program. These award-winning tools serve as resources for teachers and staff interested in using the technology to enhance educational programs for children.

Prior to that work, Dr. Gray served as the Deputy Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer for the Corporation for National Service (CNS). As part of the leadership team, she helped launch AmeriCorps to enable more than 50,000 young people to serve in over 1000 programs throughout the U.S.

Dr. Gray holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Education and Psychology from Stanford University, and an A.B. in Psychology from the University of California, Riverside. She holds a California Secondary Teaching Credential and is bilingual in English and Spanish. She served on the Technical Advisory Group for the U.S.-China e-Language Learning Program (Chengo) funded by the U.S. Department of Education and the Chinese Ministry of Education. She currently serves on the National Boys and Girls Clubs' Youth and Technology Advisory Committee, Teach for America (DC) Advisory Board, and U.S.-China Center for Research on Education Advisory Group.
