#New law could help New York wineries and liquor stores ship products around the country - powered by NewsChannel 9 WSYR Syracuse Getting New York wines and liquors to other parts of the United States could soon get easier, if Governor Cuomo approves a new measure. Syracuse (WSYR-TV) Getting New York wines and liquors to other parts of the United States could soon get easier, if Governor Cuomo approves a new measure. As it stands now, the NYS Liquor Authority can penalize companies that ship to states that prohibit out-of-state alcohol sales. This legislation would take away those restrictions for New York businesses. Some industry representatives say it won t make much of an impact on small businesses, which rely on face to face sales rather than out-of-state online purchases. Larger wine and liquor companies that depend heavily on out-of-state business will feel the greatest impact, if passed. Shell Hurlbut runs the shipping and bottling operations for Ashley Lynn Winery in Oswego County. She says it could help their family expand their online business. If they changed those laws and we could ship to all 50 states, that would be wonderful, says Hurlbut. There are 12 states right now that we can't ship to. The New York State legislature has already approved the measure. Governor Cuomo is expected to make a decision on it later on this month.
