#LL. M. Taxation Program The Graduate Tax Program, established in 1959, was one of the first of its kind in the country, and it continues to be one of the best. BU Law ranks 7th in the nation in tax law studies, according to U.S. News and World Report (2016 edition). A Master of Laws in Taxation (LL.M. in Taxation) from BU Law reflects a mastery of the practice, ethics and subtleties of tax law. Our curriculum consisting of five required courses and more than 30 challenging electives offers a balance between tax law theory and practical application, meeting the needs of lawyers who wish to excel as tax practitioners. The curriculum makes it possible for LL.M. tax students either to select a wide spectrum of elective courses and gain exposure to all areas of taxation, or to concentrate on courses that will prepare you for specialization in a particular area such as business organizations and transactions; estate planning and wealth management; or international tax. LL.M. tax students may attend on either a part-time or full-time basis. Classes are scheduled only during the late afternoon and evening hours to facilitate participation by working lawyers. The Program's student body is comprised of recent law school graduates as well as seasoned attorneys from both the public and private sectors, many of them from the nation's leading law and tax consulting firms. Our graduates are engaged in private practice at law and accounting firms, but several work for government agencies and corporate law departments. Online OptionThe LL.M. in Taxation is now offered through a 24-credit online program option. which provides the same course of study as the traditional Graduate Tax Program. This online option. which leads to the BU Law LL.M. in Taxation, is ideal for domestic and internationally trained tax lawyers whose jobs preclude them from attending our traditional on-site program option in Boston.
