The USC Law School welcomed its first students in .

The School currently offers eleven Bachelor of Laws programs which have been accredited for admission to legal practice in Queensland and throughout Australia.

Throughout these programs students have the opportunity to observe how the legal system operates and how the law affects people in their daily lives, while studying and critically evaluating the many laws which govern our community.

Students are introduced to legal practice in their foundation law courses by working with local legal practitioners during advice sessions at the Suncoast Community Legal Service assisting clients with their legal problems. The University's Law Clinic and Suncoast Community Legal Service operate in partnership from purpose-built premises in Maroochydore.

Other opportunities to become involved in legal practice are available in later courses. In Law Clinic students work with the School’s clinical lecturer/lawyer, Dr Gwynn MacCarrick. and other lawyers when working for clients of the Suncoast Community Legal Service .

The USC Law School offers small classes and approachable, experienced full-time lecturers who are joined in some classes by senior members of the local legal profession. The Law School has drawn upon our experiences at many other law schools to offer USC law students interesting and modern law courses which will provide a sound foundation for the many careers available to law graduates.

In addition to the courses required for admission as a legal practitioner in Australia, students have the opportunity to study elective courses to suit the needs of lawyers working at the local, national or global level. Students may also have the opportunity to complete some courses internationally.

We look forward to working with our students and providing them with legal education programs that are practical, relevant and rigorous.
