You need JavaScript enabled to view it. - LL B (Hons), LL M (Legislative Drafting) Law Commissioner Mrs. Hiwa was appointed the third Law Commissioner on 24 June, 2008. Her impeccable legal career spans over 16 years of service in the public sector in various capacities. Mrs. Hiwa started her career as a State Advocate at the Ministry of Justice in 1992. She was seconded to the Office of President and Cabinet in 1994 until 1996 when she returned to the Ministry of Justice now joining the Drafting Section. She rose to head the Drafting Section as Chief Parliamentary Draftsperson in July, 2006 until her appointment as Law Commissioner. Mrs. Hiwa has, in her career, served as a member of several statutory bodies, been involved in various Government negotiations with various donors as a Legal Advisor. On several occasions, Mrs. Hiwa served as a Commissioner on special Law Commissions of the Malawi Law Commission, including the special Law Commissions on the review of the Constitution and Gender-related laws. She graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree from Chancellor College, University of Malawi in 1992 and she also holds a Master of Laws degree in Legislative Drafting from the University of the West Indies which she obtained in 1996. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. - LL B (Hons) LL M (Constitutional Law) Chief Law Reform Officer Mr. Msiska joined the Commission on 1st October 2002 as a Law Reform Officer. Prior to joining the Commission, Mr. Msiska worked for Nyirenda Msiska Law Offices, a private legal firm and later moved to Tembenu, Masumbu Company in September 2000. He graduated from the University of Malawi in 1997 with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree and also holds a Master of Laws degree in Constitutional Law from the University of Northampton. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. - LL B (Hons), LL M (Public International Law) Deputy Chief Law Reform Officer I Mr. Nyirongo joined the Commission on 1st November, 2004 as Law Reform Officer. Prior to this appointment, he had worked as a litigation lawyer in private practice with several legal firms and as a law consultant with human rights non-governmental organizations between February, 2000 and August, 2003. In September, 2003, he proceeded to read for his Master of Laws in Public International Law at the University of Oslo in Norway and joined the Malawi Law Commission on his return. Mr. Nyirongo also holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree from the University of Malawi and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legislative Drafting obtained from the International Law Institute.
