Car accidents, a slip and fall, defective products, premise liability injuries or medical malpractice can all cause personal injuries. If you have been injured from the negligence of another person you may be able to file a personal injury claim and receive compensation for your personal injuries.
Personal injury claims, such as personal injuries caused by car accidents, are often negotiated with the offender's insurance company, but if the settlement offer does not cover the cost of your personal injuries or your claim has been denied, a personal injury lawyer can help. Personal injury lawyers can also help negotiate a fair settlement offer, or if needed, take your personal injury claim to court.
Do you have a personal injury claim? Obviously, not all injuries are torts or personal injury claims. To win a personal injury claim you, the plaintiff, must prove the defendant owed you a duty of care, their actions breached their duty of care, this breach was the proximat

Florida has laws governing the relationship between landlords and tenants. The laws are designed to be fair to both landlords and tenants and to designate what each is and is not allowed to do with regard to the rental property. Written leases are not mandatory in Florida, but where leases are drawn up between landlords and tenants, the terms of the lease must conform with Florida rental law. Most Florida rental law is encompassed in Chapter 83, Part II, of the Florida Legal Code.
Florida landlord-tenant law refers to rental property, used for residential purposes, as a dwelling unit. Chapter 83.43 (2) of the Florida Legal Code defines a dwelling unit as any structure, or part of a structure, rented out to one or more persons, where the structure is then used to maintain a household. Mobile homes are also included as dwelling units, and both unfurnished and furnished properties are included in the definition.
Chapter 83.46 of the Florida Legal Code states that rent m

A blog with advice about the law.
While the best way to avoid being arrested for a DUI is certainly to avoid drinking and driving a vehicle, there are some ways that you can circumvent a traffic stop that may lead to an arrest and the need for DUI lawyers. While this list is not meant to encourage drinking and driving, it may be of help when you find yourself in an unfortunate situation.
First, you should do your best to avoid being pulled over in the first place. Before you drive, take a moment to check your car to ensure that everything is working properly. A broken headlight or burned out brake light can be cause for a traffic stop, so do not drive if your car is not functioning properly.
While it is important to drive slowly, try not to drive too slowly. This can make you stand out and draw attention to the way you are driving, meaning a traffic stop will happen if you come across a police officer. The best DUI lawyers know that frequent speed changes can

Common-law marriage is not as common as many people believe. Living together does not mean you have a common-law marriage. There are strict requirements that have to be met for common-law marriages to be considered valid.
Additionally, only a few states in the United States recognize common-law marriages.
Although the time frame is not defined, you have to be together for a significant period of time.
Requirement Four:
In the U.S. the agreement by every state to recognize as valid a common-law marriage that was recognized in another state has been challenged by many states creating state laws not recognizing same sex marriages valid in other locales. It is best to consult an attorney to make sure your common-law marriage is recognized in the state where you are currently residing.
The Social Security Administration will only recognize your common-law marriage if the

Megan's Law is the colloquial term used to denote a number of state laws in the United States that require law enforcement authorities to identify what are generally called sex offenders to the public at large through various media, including in some cases the Internet .
The characteristic feature of the laws requires those subject to it to notify the local police department of any change of address after being released from prison; this requirement may be imposed permanently upon the offender, or for a fixed period of time (usually at least ten years) depending on the individual state, and sometimes on the nature or gravity of the specific offense. Some states that have such a law require persons convicted of any sexual assault, whether the victim was a child or not, to notify the authorities of their whereabouts; some states require notification only for certain types of sexual assaults (usually the more egregious crimes); and at least one state Kansas extended the

The Juris Doctor (also referred to as Doctor of Law or Doctor of Jurisprudence) is the highest professional graduate degree in the field of Law. The Juris Doctor degree is often abbreviated JD, and graduates holding the degree normally take on the professional suffix of "esquire" after their name, rather than using the prefix "Dr."
What Are the Benefits of Taking a Juris Doctor?
Juris Doctor programs take a scientific approach to law, teaching logic and adversarial analysis. Promoting a practical approach to legal study, Doctor of Law programs prepare students for a career as a lawyer, attorney, barrister, counselor or other legal professional. JD programs also prepare students to succeed in professional law exams (sometimes called the "Bar" exam), required to practice in most countries. The Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law is located in New York City, the largest legal and financial center in the world. As a result of Cardozo's location, students are afforded many benefits by sheer proximity. Aside from improved employment prospects, Cardozo students can also take advantage of the vibrant city/night life offered by Manhattan. And while Cardozo is a fairly young law school, there has been a general upward trend in its ranking; in 2006, it was ranked 58 th by US News and currently, it is 52 nd (down three spots from the school's highest ranking of 49 th in ).
Cardozo Law does not have a 'campus' in the traditional sense; the law school is really just one building and a nearby dorm. Of course Cardozo students have the entire city at their disposal, though this can be a challenge, especially when it comes to finding a suitable and quiet place to study. The law school is conscious of this concern, however, and recently poured millions of dollars into renovation

What is an LLM? A Master of Laws, or LLM, is an advanced academic degree not to be confused with a professional degree in law, such as a Juris Doctor (JD). There are several important differences between an LLM and a JD. Lawyers typically earn an LLM for one of two reasons: to become familiar with a foreign system of law. or to gain expertise in a specific area of law .
A JD, on the other hand, allows lawyers to practice law in the United States. Some states allow lawyers with professional degrees from foreign countries to practice law in the United States if they earn an LLM focused on the American legal system, such as that offered by the online @WashULaw. but LLM regulations vary between states. Lawyers interested in taking this route to practicing law in the United States should contact their local Bar Admission Offices. An LLM earned for the sake of expertise in a narrow field of law does not affect a lawyer’s eligibility to practice law – it simply deepens a lawyer’s k

Lawyers (also called attorneys or counsel) serve as advocates for people and organizations. They represent clients both to the court and to opposing parties. Lawyers can represent clients in criminal cases, where a law has been broken, and in civil cases, in which one party is suing another.
Lawyers are also important partners in situations that don’t involve the courtroom, advising clients about their legal rights and obligations for personal or business issues. They are trained to interpret complicated systems of laws and navigate the court system.
First, a lawyer will advise you as to whether or not you actually need legal help. It’s not always obvious whether an issue is a legal matter or something that can be resolved without involving the court system. A lawyer will help you answer these initial questions.

An MBA (Master of Business Administration) degree is the most widely-recognised business degree in the world and its popularity continues to grow, particularly in Asia.
The origins of the MBA go back more than a century to the Ivy League universities in the US. Dartmouth College established the first graduate business school in the US in 1900 – then called the Amos Tuck School of Administration and Finance. Harvard Business School launched its first postgraduate management degree in 1908.
The popularity of the MBA grew in Europe 50 years later, following the establishment of Insead in Fontainebleau, near Paris, by a group of Harvard graduates. It enrolled its first MBA cohort in September 1959. London Business School opened its doors to MBA students in 1966.
Today the MBA is usually seen as a post-experience degree, designed for those with some work/management experience. The full-time degree can last anything from 10 to 24 months but it is also taught in a n

What is a common law marriage? I was just wondering because I get different responses. I thought that commonlaw marriage means that when you call each other husband and wife; act like you are husband and wife; everyone acknowledges you as a husband and wife; and you sign on papers as husband and wife. Is that enough to say that you are commonlaw married? I never used his lastname though as my lasname thats why I was just wondering if we are commonlaw married.
The reason I ask this is that I used to live in Texas and now I live in Washington State and everytime I say that I am commonlaw married they say that they dont honor that here. They say that I am still considered single. Is this true?
Another reason why I ask this is that our relationship didnt work out and I want to know if I have to file for a divorce here in the State of Wahington. We have a baby and I also want to file for a Sole Custody, do I need to file divorce first or I can file for a Sole Custody now?
