Here are some laws to be aware of whether you are biking or driving a motor vehicle:
- Bicycle Helmets - Currently, there is no state law requiring helmet use. However, some cities and counties do require helmets. See Localities Requiring Bicycle Helmets .
Riding on the Road - When riding on a roadway, a cyclist has all the rights and responsibilities of a vehicle driver (RCW 46.61.755 ). Cyclists who violate traffic laws may be ticketed (RCW 46.61.750 ).
Roads Closed to Bicycles - Some designated sections of the state's limited access highway system may be closed to bicycles for safety reasons. See State Highway Sections Closed to Bicycles for more informat

Occasionally questions are raised about whether or not students at online colleges and universities can trust their degree will have value in the workforce. Evidence has borne out, however, that institutional accreditation and thorough academic advising and career services departments can combine to produce similar results at online schools as they do on brick-and-mortar campuses.
Of course, students who choose to fully engage the material tend to get more out of the experience than those who don't, whether they choose to attend classes online or in person. Look a little deeper into a few individual online degree programs and find out how they can contribute to a rewarding education and fulfilling career.

Contract law, which involves legally binding agreements between two or more parties, is a common field of law that is taught in many schools. The study of contract law covers a range of issues, from the sale or exchange of goods to employment and family matters. Within these areas, students learn how to approach such situations as contractual obligations, breach of contract and termination of contract. Those who specialize in contract law can work in several different fields, including real estate and entertainment.
Compared with other types of law, environmental law is relatively new. It deals with the regulation of environmental standards in such areas as air and water pollution and hazardous waste disposal. Since many environmental rules and regulations are still being defined, this type of law often involves litigation between environmental agencies and large corporations. And because environmental issues are the concerns of the entire planet and not of just one particul

social security law: an overview
Social security is designed, as the title suggests, to provide security. To protect individuals from unforeseen catastrophes, the government spreads certain risks among all members of society so that no single family bears the full burden of such occurrences.
In the United States, the Social Security Program was created in 1935 (42 U.S.C. 301 et seq . ) to provide old age, survivors, and disability insurance benefits to workers and their families. Unlike welfare. social security benefits are paid to an individual or his or her family at least in part on the basis of that person's employment record and prior contributions to the system. The program is administered by the Social Security Administration (SSA) and since 1965 it has included health insurance benefits under the Medicare program. While the original act used Social Security in a broad sense and included federally funded welfare programs and unemployment compensation

One of the trickiest concepts in algebra involves the manipulation of exponents, or powers. Many times, problems will require you to simplify variables with exponents, or you will have to simplify an equation with exponents to solve it. To work with exponents, you need to know the basic exponent laws.
When a problem gives you two terms, or chunks, that do not have the exact same variables, or letters, raised to the exact same exponents, you cannot combine them. For instance, (4x^2)(y^3) + (6x^4)(y^2) could not be simplified (combined) further because the Xs and the Ys have different powers in each term.
If two terms have the same variables raised to the exact same exponents, subtract the second coefficient from the first and use the answer as the new coefficient for the combined term. The powers themselves do not change. For example, 5y^3 - 7y^3 would simplify to -2y^3.
When multiplying two terms (it does not matter if they are like terms), multiply the coeff

About 8 years ago a friend, (who is now my son in law) told me about a book that outlined a 40 day plan to apply the Law of Attraction. I borrowed the book and was inspired by its message.
That little book, only 96 pages started me on a journey I never anticipated. It introduced me to the Law of Attraction and Wealth Consciousness and I haven t stopped reading and studying since.
The Law of Attraction states: I attract to myself, whatever I give my focus, attention, or energy to; whether wanted or unwanted. If you think about being broke, poor, lonely and believe your thoughts guess what? That is exactly what you ll be. This Law applies to your life and every other person s life on the planet. Like all laws, it is impartial and impersonal, which means it works when you want it to and when you don t want it to.

While Maryland labor law doesn't require most employers to provide breaks to their employees, the state does require meal breaks for retail employees working shifts longer than six hours. If a retail employer denies an employee her break, she can file a complaint. If the state finds in her favor, she may receive three times her hourly wage for each violation, while her employer may be assessed a civil fine of up to $300.
State law mandates all retail employees who work from four to six hours be given a 15-minute shift break. This break should be paid, since federal law requires breaks shorter than 20 minutes to be paid.
Employees working six hours or more are entitled to a 30-minute non-working break for a meal, which is unpaid. This break may be a working break if the employee's duties prevent her from being fully relieved of duty but allow her to eat while working. The employer and employee have to agree to this ahead of time, and the employee then must be paid for

The Roots of Marijuana Law in the US:
The Marijuana Tax Act was introduced in 1937. It required sellers to obtain a license. Blanket prohibition was not the intention. Harry Anslinger (Bureau of Narcotics Commissioner) testified in hearings on the subject that the hemp plant needed to be banned because it had a violent “effect on the degenerate races.” This specifically referred to Mexican immigrants who had entered the country, seeking jobs during the Great Depression.
The law passed quickly and with little debate. The American Medical Association (AMA) protested the law soon after, both on the grounds of actual disagreement with the law and the supporter’s lies on the subject, claiming the AMA had vocalized support when, in fact, the opposite was true.
There was some legal wrangling over the issue after it was passed. The people who were allowed to issue the licenses did not do so, effectively banning the drugs.

Although lawyers rank among the most visible and well-compensated of the positions available in the field, there are many professional paths in the legal field that don't impose the significant educational and financial resources that the completion of a law degree usually requires.

Now there are three choices when it comes to settling your divorce: litigation, mediation, or collaboration. Here s an introduction to this non-adversarial practice.
Share this page:
A new alternative to dispute resolution, "Collaborative Family Practice ", is now the third resource in a lineup consisting of litigation, mediation. and collaboration. And like mediation, its closest neighbor, it is distinguished from litigation by employing non-adversarial techniques.
If the parties can't reach agreement, then the lawyers must withdraw, and neither they nor any member of their firms may represent the clients in subsequent litigation. This is to ensure that there is no "holding back": the participants are committed to reaching a reasonable settlement, and there's no room to maneuver for litigation leverage. The lawyers' attitude, which they must demonstrate to their clients, is that there will be no cross-examination later -- not even a thought of it. The matter

Roman law is one of the most magnificent elements of our common Roman legacy: the development of Roman law covers more than one thousand years from the law of the Twelve Tables (from 449 BC) to the Corpus Juris Civilis of Emperor Justinian I (around 530). Roman law became the basis of legal practice in the Byzantine Empire as well as in continental Europe, and influenced all legal systems of the world.
Roman law in a broad sense refers not only to the legal system of ancient Rome, but also to the law that was applied throughout most of Western Europe until the end of the 18th century. In some countries like Germany the practical application of Roman law lasted even longer. For these reasons, many modern civil law systems in Europe and elsewhere are heavily influenced by Roman law. This is especially true in the field of private law. Even the English and North American Common law owes some debt to Roman law although Roman law exercised much less in

A microeconomic law that states, all other factors being equal, as the price of a good or service increases, the quantity of goods or services that suppliers offer will increase, and vice versa. The law of supply says that as the price of an item goes up, suppliers will attempt to maximize their profits by increasing the quantity offered for sale.
The chart below depicts the law of supply using a supply curve, which is always upward sloping. A, B and C are points on the supply curve. Each point on the curve reflects a direct correlation between quantity supplied (Q) and price (P). So, at point A, the quantity supplied will be Q1 and the price will be P1, and so on.
The law of supply is so intuitive that you may not even be aware of all the examples around you.

According to Concern Worldwide, child labor can be defined as any tedious work assigned to a child that results in a negative impact on his physical, emotional or mental health. However, it must be noted that there is no universal definition of child labor, and various organizations define this term using their own set rules and parameters. The International Labour Organization (ILO), under its child labour eradication program, provides guidelines and standards to help its member countries implement this program. Japan, a member of ILO, has faced the problem of child labor in the past, as did the other countries.
