The Standing Committee on Paralegals provides this Directory of ABA Approved Paralegal Education Programs as a convenience to those looking for specialized education to enhance their career goals as a paralegal. No rating of ABA approved paralegal education programs, beyond the simple statement of their approved status, is attempted or advocated by the Standing Committee. Entry into the paralegal field is open to a wide range of individuals with diverse educational backgrounds and previous work experiences. Two-year community and junior colleges, four-year colleges and universities, and business and proprietary schools, some of which are freestanding institutions devoted solely to providing this type of education, offer paralegal education programs. The admission requirements, length of time to complete and other characteristics of the programs listed in the Directory vary considerably from one institution to another. Prospective paralegal students should consider a variety of factors in making their choice among schools. Qualities that make one kind of school good for one student may not be as important to another prospective student. Contact information for each program is provided and prospective paralegal students are encouraged to contact the programs directly for specific information.
