#WHAT IS ZONING
WHAT IS ZONING?
Zoning is the way the governments control the physical development of land and the kinds of uses to which each individual property may be put.
Zoning laws typically specify the areas in which residential, industrial, recreational or commercial activities may take place. For example, an R-1 residential zone might allow only single-family detached homes as opposed to duplexes or apartment complexes. On the other hand, a C-1 commercial zone might be zoned to permit only certain commercial or industrial uses in one jurisdiction, but permit a mix of housing and businesses in another jurisdiction.
WHAT ELSE DO ZONING LAWS REGULATE ?
Besides restricting the uses that can be made of land and buildings, zoning laws also may regulate the dimensional requirements for lots and for buildings on property located within the town, the density of development, and whether you can have pigeons, dogs, sheep or llamas. Some zoning ordi

As a preliminary matter, insurance companies are generally required to follow all of the same laws and regulations as any other type of business. This would include zoning and land use, wage and hour laws, tax laws, and securities regulations. There are also other regulations that insurers must also follow.
Regulation of the business of insurance
Insurance regulation that governs the business of insurance is typically aimed at assuring the solvency of insurance companies. Thus, this type of regulation governs capitalization, reserve policies, rates and various other "back office" processes.
In the United States each state typically has a statute creating an administrative agency. These state agencies are typically called the Department of Insurance, or some similar name, and the head official is the Insurance Commissioner, or a similar titled officer. The agency then creates a group of administrative regulations to govern insurance companies which are domic

Initially, the notion of an online doctoral degree sounds odd to many of us who are older than the so-called Millennium Generation. We wonder how an online environment can reproduce the rich traditional graduate education. The truth is that some doctoral programs may never go fully online; factors such as certain
types of research requirements in chemistry and medicine, for instance, prohibit a 100%-online program. However, many traditional doctoral programs can easily be converted to distance learning formats. For more information, read our answers to the frequently asked questions below.
Which doctoral degrees are available?
People usually equate a doctorate with a Ph.D. and it’s true that the Ph.D. – or Doctor of Philosophy – is the most common doctoral degree. Still, some additional degrees include: the Doctor of Arts degree (D.A.), which typically emphasizes teaching a certain college subject; the Doctor of Divinity degree (D.D.), which

#Pastor Bill Owens Urges Christians to Stand Against Gay Marriage by Refusing to Obey Unjust Laws
(Photo: Facebook/Bill Owens) Rev. Bill Owens, the president and founder of the Coalition of African American Pastors.
The president of the Coalition of African American Pastors, the Rev. Bill Owens, is calling on Christians to not participate in gay marriage ceremonies by "refusing to obey unjust laws" in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriage.
Owens, who held a press conference in Dallas on Tuesday where he was joined by other prominent conservative leaders who support traditional marriage, said Christians in all areas of society should stand up and defend their constitutional rights.
"We are calling on Christians and people of faith in all areas of society, especially those in leadership positions, to refuse to obey unjust laws that have legalized same-sex unions, and to join our movement [called Real Marriage] that will take b

Schools, colleges, universities and tutoring centers often fill online teaching positions from current or local faculty. Others will post job descriptions specifically seeking a specialized instructor in a dedicated subject or education line. The best places to look for an online teaching position are online. When visiting job search sites, use the search terms: online instructor, online teacher and online adjunct or distance learning instructor. You may replace instructor with tutor if you are seeking a tutoring position to supplement your income.
Teaching online at the university or college level requires applicants to be at least one full degree higher than the level of student they will be teaching. For example, at local community colleges that offer a distance learning option, applicants must have a bachelor's degree or higher as well as teaching credentials in the state they are applying to teach in. Mike Godwin is an American attorney and author who formulated “Godwin’s Law” in 1990 when he made the following assertion:

Summary of Taft v. Bowers
Citation: 278 U.S. 470 (1929)
Relevant Facts. Taft was the recipient of stocks by gift from her father. Her father had purchased them several years earlier, and they had increased in value while he held them. The stocks further appreciated following her receipt of the gift from her father. Taft then sold the stocks. The IRS claimed that she was responsible for taxes on the appreciation from the time her father purchased the stocks. While Taft paid what the IRS claimed she owed, she instituted this suit against Bowers, in his official capacity as collector of taxes, and argued that she should only be responsible for the increase in value since the stocks came into her possession. The District Court agreed with Taft, but the Sixth Circuit reversed.
Issue. Under the relevant provisions of the tax code, is a donee responsible for the full increase in value of an asset from the time it wa

In most instances, a child has to be 14 years old or older before beginning employment. Strict labor laws prohibit children 13 and younger from working in most capacities. This prevents them from being overworked or placed in hazardous situations.
However, children are allowed limited work experiences in newspaper delivery and babysitting. They can work in a business or farm that is owned or operated by their parents. They can also work as actors in motion pictures, television, and theater or radio performances.
Teenagers can only work certain hours without violating labor laws. While individual states can maintain stricter rules than the federal government, there are many federal restrictions regarding teens who are 14 or 15 years old.
The teenagers in this age bracket can only work between the hours of seven in the morning and seven in the evening. The only exception to this occurs between June 1 and Labor Day, when teenagers are allowed to work until nine

#Federal judge strikes down Arizona immigration law - LA Times
U.S. District Court Judge Susan Bolton said in her Friday ruling that the state law was preempted by the U.S. government s authority to enforce immigration laws, dealing another legal blow to Arizona s controversial efforts to give local and state law enforcement more muscle to combat illegal immigration.
The smuggling law, passed in 2005, was designed to prosecute those trafficking people into the country. The law was modified by the controversial SB 1070, which expanded the ability of local authorities to stop people suspected of being in the country illegally.
In her ruling, Bolton said the state law imposes additional and different state penalties than federal law; it divests federal authorities of the exclusive power to prosecute these specific smuggling crimes; and criminalizes conduct not covered by (federal law) because it does not contain a safe harbor exception for religious activities like the

#Family law
family law , body of law regulating family relationships, including marriage and divorce. the treatment of children, and related economic matters.
In the past, family law was closely connected with the law of property and succession (see property law ), and, judging from the records available, it must have originated principally in the economic and property questions created by the transfer of a female from her father’s family to the power and guardianship of her husband. Even with regard to the relationship between parent and child. legal concepts such as guardianship, custody, and legitimacy were associated with family power structures and family economic interests. Family law also traditionally has to do with matters of personal status—for example, the question of whether a person is to be considered married or single, legitimate or illegitimate—though the incidents and importance of these distinctions often derive from the law of prope

The United States is a nation of laws, not of men. This simple statement, pre-eminent among the founders of the nation as well as all statesmen since, refers to the USA as ruled by a set of laws that apply to everyone – not by the whims or desires of the powerful. This "rule of law" is not easy to define and is often under attack, as power and privilege will try to get its way. But as a guiding national principle, there is none stronger or more influential in the USA, and lawyers are in many ways the guardians of this national mindset.
The practice of law in the United States has a proud history, integral to the founding of the nation and maintaining the rule of law, and many lawyers and law students from around the world want to study or practice law in the United States. The legal profession is largely self-regulated, as each state has a “Bar” that sets the rules for the practice of law in that state. One important function of each state Bar is to provide a licensing st

#Federal Textbook Price Disclosure Law
Federal Textbook Price Disclosure Law
The HEOA, short for the Higher Education Opportunity Act, is a higher education reform bill passed by Congress in 2008. Among the many provisions in HEOA was a set of important regulations to help make textbooks affordable, which went into effect July 1, 2010 .
Summary of HEOA Textbook Provisions

This law helps counteract the "broken market" at the root of high textbook prices by providing all of the information professors need to identify and consider lower cost options.
2. Unbundling. Ever bought a textbook packaged with a CD or passcode you never used? Thanks to HEOA, publishers now are required to offer all of the items in textbook bundles for sale separately. This gives students freedom to buy what t

Most Common Immigration Law Issues:
- Citizenship
- Permanent Visas or Green Cards
- Removal or Deportation
- Temporary Visas
An immigration marriage is when a non-citizen (immigrant) gains U.S. citizenship by marrying an American citizen. Most immigrant spouses first enter the country through a fianc visa (K-1 visa) or a permanent visa. The fianc visa allows a non-citizen to enter the country to marry his or her fianc , while the permanent visa is intended for non-citizens who have already married an American citizen. The permanent visa, a conditional green card, allows the immigrant to remain in the U.S. while he or she goes through the full green card application process.
A fianc visa can be obtained by getting married to a U.S citizen. If a non-citizen wants to be eligible for a fianc visa, they do not even have to intend to live permanently in the United States after the marriage. The option to stay in the United States and
