Looks like I m arriving very late in the game for this online gem, but I m in love with BLA BLA. a film by Vincent Morisset. This is a film for computer, in which each scene is completely interactive. Morisset who also happens to be the interactive brains behind Arcade Fire s Neon Bible - explains that the film explores the fundamental principles of human communication. And that communication is driven completely by the viewer namely, you or me. As the film flows through six chapters, the viewer controls everything from the music to the graphics that appear onscreen. Sounds more like a computer game than a film, you say? I thought so too at first, but after a solid half hour re-watching the film again and again, all the while clicking around the screen to see what the characters would do, it really felt like a short film you d catch a the theatre only way more cool. The Naitonal Film Board s write up on the film says that Morisset explored interactive narrative in depth to prepare for the film, and that homework sure did pay off. On that note, another NFB-er, Welcome to Pine Point. is extremely cool and extremely addictive too. Hooray for Canadian artists taking it to the online realm! Finally, since I seem to be on an online bent, yesterday I picked up the 4 th Generation iPod touch. Tr s groovy, I must say. As I prep for a backpacking adventure across Europe, I ve started downloading some Lonely Planet apps, and have already set my weather app to Amsterdam. Excited much? Here are some photos I snapped with it last night. Roasted beets for dinner. The hibiscus my grandpa and I bought at the farmers market.
