Pro Bono Program | Academic Programs | J.D. Student Central





Welcome to the Boston University School of Law Voluntary Pro Bono Program. Through this program, students dedicate their developing legal skills to unmet legal needs in the Boston area, throughout the United States and around the world.

The Pro Bono Program is administered through the Career Development and Public Service Office, whose staff advises students about the range of legal pro bono opportunities and assists in identifying possible placements.

New York Pro Bono Bar Admission Requirements

On September 14, , the New York State Court of Appeals adopted a rule requiring applicants for admission to the New York State bar to perform 50 hours of pro bono services. More information on the rule can be found here and here .

Please note that because BU Law is not the administrator of this requirement, we cannot officially confirm that a particular activity will count. We recommend that you contact the NY Bar directly and visit their FAQs page.
