  1. You can be stopped by the police for biking over 65 miles per hour.
  2. You are not allowed to walk across a street on your hands.

  1. Women may be fined for falling asleep under a hair dryer, as can the salon owner.
  2. A special law prohibits unmarried women from parachuting on Sunday or she shall risk arrest, fine, and/or jailing.
  3. If an elephant is left tied to a parking meter, the parking fee has to be paid just as it would for a vehicle.
  4. (SARASOTA) It is illegal to sing in a public place while attired in a swimsuit.
  5. Men may not be seen publicly in any kind of strapless gown.

  1. It is illegal for anyone to give lighted cigars to dogs, cats, and other domesticated animal kept as pets.

  3. You may be arrested for vagrancy if you do not have at least one dollar bill on your person.
  4. You must contact the police before entering the city in an automobile.

  1. Carbondale

    1. It is considered an offense to attempt to have sex with one's dog.

  • Crystal Lake If one wishes to plant new sod in his or her yard in the summer months, that person may not use the city's water to water it.
  • Des Plaines Wheelbarrows with For-Sale signs may not be chained to trees.
  • Evanston
    1. Bowling is forbidden.
    2. It is unlawful to change clothes in an automobile with the curtains drawn, except in case of fire.
  • Fairfield It is unlawful for negroes to be within county boundaries from sundown to sunrise.
  • Galesburg

    Sec. 4-6. Noise, odor, etc.

    No person shall keep or maintain any animal, poultry or fowl in such a manner to cause inconvenience or disturbance to other persons by reason of noise, odor or other cause.

    No person shall burn any feathers, hides or any other animal matter within the corporate limits of the city.

    Sec. 28-345. Trick riding.

    No rider of a bicycle shall remove both hands from the handlebars, or feet from the pedals, or practice any acrobatic or fancy riding on any street. The chief of police or his agent is authorized to approve racing events under section 11-1514 of The Illinois Vehicle Code [625ILCS 5/11-1514].

  • Joliet Town fathers, reflecting the pet peeve of hearing their town's name mispronounced 'Jolly-ETTE' when all local folk know it's pronounced 'Joe-lee-ETTE', made pronouncing it Jolly-ette a misdemeanor, punishable by a $5 fine.
  • Kenilworth A rooster must step back three hundred feet from any residence if he wishes to crow.
  • Kirkland Bees are not allowed to fly over the village or through any of Kirkland's streets.
  • Moline
    1. Ice skating at the Riverside pond during the months of June and August is prohibited.
    2. There is a ban on unnecessary repetitive driving on 23rd Avenue.
  • Morton Grove You may not own a handgun.
  • Normal It is against the law to make faces at dogs.
  • Oblong It is illegal to go fishing from a boat on your wedding day [Heard on BBC Radio 4 ]
  • Orland Park No pool tables are allowed in a public establishment, because it supports gambling.
  • Ottowa Spitting on the sidewalk is a criminal offence.
  • Park Ridge Trucks may only park inside closed garages.
  • Peoria Basketball hoops may not be installed on a driveway.
  • Zion
