Office of Career Planning and Professional Development

Illinois Law s Office of Career Planning and Professional Development strives to set the bar in terms of counseling, responsiveness, innovation, teamwork, market analysis, and employer outreach. Our professional staff, located in Chicago and Champaign, consists entirely of lawyers with extensive practice experience at top law firms, government agencies, and in-house legal departments. Using their experience and judgment, our team works to prepare our students to realize their professional ambitions. Many graduates choose to work in the world s largest law firms and in smaller firms across the United States. Others choose to work as government or public interest lawyers and are supported by a full-time director of government and public interest programs and a robust fellowship program. Still others choose less-traveled paths, including non-legal positions and work with newer types of legal service providers. Regardless of the path our students and graduates choose, our professional staff is dedicated to helping them travel that path.

The Office also works to support our students through timely and targeted recruiting services, including our robust on-campus interviewing and r sum collection programs and personalized talent searches. Our professional staff travels around the country, working to find new ways to deliver quality Illini talent to the marketplace in efficient, practical, and effective ways.
