#Distance Learning

Being unable to study in London is no longer a barrier to obtaining a qualification in public health and tropical medicine. Our distance learning courses and assessments ensure students achieve the same high standards as our London-based courses.

The School s Distance Learning Programme was established in 1998, and there are currently over 3000 students registered in 130 countries. Our aim is to meet the needs of health practitioners, clinicians, policy-makers, laboratory scientists and scientists who want to obtain a world class qualification in aspects of public and global health.

The courses operate through the University of London International Programmes and applications must be made through the University.

Masters, Diploma and Certificate by Distance Learning

The School offers Masters, Diplomas and Certificates in the fields of Clinical Trials, Epidemiology, Global Health Policy, Infectious Diseases and Public Health.

Short Courses: Modules by Distance Learning

All our distance learning MSc modules can be studied as short courses. These are ideal for refreshing or developing skills, or to give a taste of our MSc programmes.

Podcast: Learn about our Distance Learning Programme

Sharon Huttly, the School s Dean of Studies, talks about the Distance Learning Programme, what courses you can study, and what you need. The podcast includes an interview with a School graduate from Zambia.

Video: Why study epidemiology?

Ben Goldacre explains the importance of epidemiology and how you can try a taster session to find out more.

QAA Accreditation

In its latest report, the UK s Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) praised the School for its close relationship between face-to-face and distance-learning programmes and confirmed that the student learning opportunities for both modes of delivery are equitable.

The University of London International Programmes

Nearly 52,000 external students in more than 180 countries across the world are registered for a wide range of University of London qualifications. For many students, gaining such a qualification has been a long-term ambition which, through the International Programmes, they are now able to realise.
