Dual Degrees - JD/MBA and JD/MSW » UNH School of Law

UNH Scool of Law offers two dual degrees through the University of New Hampshire in Durham: a JD/MBA and a JD/MSW. Below is a brief overview of the dual degrees academic programs and admission policies.

This degree:

  • Provides a deep understanding of how legal and business issues relate in a complex global economy.
  • Combines the Paul College s strength in training future entrepreneurs with UNH Law s strength in intellectual property and innovation law
    • Enables you to make a difference in a career that address critical social justice issues such as immigration, gender bias and discrimination, and domestic violence
  • MSW program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
  • Length of study

The JD/MBA is generally designed to be completed in 3 years (or seven semesters). For the MBA, the student spends five semesters at UNH Law and two semesters at UNH s business school in Durham.

JD/MBA students spend roughly 11 months taking classes at Durham. UNH s MBA program is an 11-month program that runs from July through June of a given year.

The program is designed for students to spend 11 successive months taking classes at Durham, following their first year of law school.

The JD/MSW degree time will depend on the student s MSW track.

All students complete a foundation-year course of study, then elect a second-year concentration either in direct/clinical practice or community/administrative practice. Both concentrations require classroom work and two year-long field internships.

A typical dual degree candidate may begin some credits in Durham, then complete his or her first year of law school, and then sequence the remaining JD and MSW courses to take advantage of courses that will prepare the candidate for his or her career. Students planning to enroll in the MSW s advanced standing track must consult with Professor Sharon Murphy to understand the timing unique to the program.
