Gregor Mendel's law of segregation has four parts. First, it defines an allele. Second, it states that organisms inherit one allele from each parent. Third, it states that gametes only carry one allele for each trait. Fourth, it defines the difference between dominant and recessive genes.
The law of segregation is commonly known also as Mendel s First Law and this is the idea that every inheritable trait or gene as we now call them is controlled by a pair of factors or alleles and those pairs of alleles, when you make gametes separate from each other so that for example if you have a dominant version of allele and a recessive version of allele, one of your gametes will be containing the dominant one, the other one will contain the recessive one. And this is caused by the separation of homologous chromosomes that is seen during the process of gamete formation called meiosis.
Now as I just mentioned there s dominant versions of these alleles and recess

Florida is home to roughly 1.3 million alligators, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, so it should come as no surprise that the state has several laws on the books to deal with them. They range from protecting alligators to how you can legally remove one from your property.
Florida s Alligator Management Program has five separate divisions, one of which is the Statewide Nuisance Alligator Program. Should an alligator come lumbering into your yard, you can call SNAP toll free at 866-FWC-GATOR, and SNAP will send a nuisance alligator trapper to come collect it. But there s a catch. The gator must be at least 4 feet long before Florida law considers it to officially be a nuisance. The state takes the position that shorter alligators are incapable of causing harm, even to household pets, unless they re handled. Of course, this can leave you between a rock and a hard place because removing the alligator yourself may involve handling it. If you fin

Criminal law involves prosecution by the government of a person for an act that has been classified as a crime. Civil cases. on the other hand, involve individuals and organizations seeking to resolve legal disputes. In a criminal case, the state, through a prosecutor, initiates the suit, while in a civil case the victim brings the suit. Persons convicted of a crime may be incarcerated, fined, or both. However, persons found liable in a civil case may only have to give up property or pay money, but are not incarcerated.
A "crime" is any act or omission (of an act) in violation of a public law forbidding or commanding it. Though there are some common law crimes, most crimes in the United States are established by local, state, and federal governments. Criminal laws vary significantly from state to state. There is, however, a Model Penal Code (MPC) which serves as a good starting place to gain an understanding of the basic structure of criminal liability.

Airsoft guns use compressed gas to fire plastic pellets. Although made of plastic, some Airsoft guns look exactly like real guns. That can be a real problem in a dark alley when a cop is facing a 14-year-old kid who has one in his hands. The purchase of an Airsoft gun is completely unregulated. A felon who cannot buy a real gun can purchase an Airsoft gun to use in a robbery, without any check on his identity or paper trail showing who he is. An Airsoft gun with the plastic tip removed looks exactly like a real gun to a convenience store clerk.

#Law Firm Names: An Explanation - Law Blog
lawyers and law firms
Earlier today, we picked up an entertaining read by Reuters on Chinese law firm names. They aren t bound by the same ethics rules as U.S. firms, so they can be more creative. Beijing-based King Wood, for instance you won t find a Mr. King or a Mr. Wood at the firm. They don t exist. But the name is catchy.
Anyway, earlier today we wrote this:
In the U.S. ethics rules require law firms to carry the last name of partners who work there, or who did before they retired or died. China has no such rules. Firms there are free to name themselves however they like, and an evocative name can be an asset.
Then we had an astute reader leave this comment:
In the U.S. ethics rules require law firms to carry the last name of partners who work there, or who did before they retired or died.” — This is probably true in only a minority of U.S. states. I believe at least half of the states now al

My Unconventional Path To – and Through - Law School. My journey to law school - and through law school - was as unconventional as they come. Prior to entering law school, I worked as a cancer researcher and as a science education researcher. I discovered my interest in law while I was pursuing a Master of Public Administration degree, and enrolled in law school after I received my MPA.
During my first year of law school, I realized that my science background was well-suited for a career in intellectual property law. After completing foundational courses in Patent Law, Trademark Law, and Copyright Law, among other areas, I earned a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law. Through the Black Law Students’ Association, I participated in community outreach, and as part of the Moot Court Honors Board, I competed in moot court competitions around the country. While in law school, I was also working part-time and raising a family. Yet,

U.S. immigration laws regarding marriage have been tightened over the years due to the historical abuse of marriage as a means to obtain a green card. The federal government has many requirements applicants must meet to demonstrate that their marriage is one of good faith and not a sham for permanent residency.
Immigration laws make it possible for both fianc s and spouses of American citizens to enter the United States and obtain permanent residency solely on the basis of marriage. However, the engaged person must show an immediate intent to marry the American citizen, "immediate" meaning within 90 days of entry. The entry visa is known as a K-1 and requires multiple application forms, including a preliminary petition (I-129F) and an interview at the U.S. Consulate General during which the engagement must be proven legitimate. Proof of relationship, such as photographs, timeline, plane tickets, phone records and letters are all required. Only after the marriage can the fore

New York University School of Law, or NYU Law, was established in 1835. It is the oldest law school in New York City. Despite the rather large student population of around 1,500, class sizes remain fairly small with a student to faculty ratio of 9 to 1. There are currently more than 200 faculty members on staff, which results in lots of individualized attention. A strong alumni network also helps aid students after graduation.
There are many degree options at NYU Law, including J.D, LL.M. and J.S.D. degrees. Students also have the opportunity to complete joint degrees with other schools at NYU such as the Stern School of Business. Individuals can pursue dual degrees with outside schools, like the Harvard Kennedy School of Government or Princeton University s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
Some of the most popular areas of study are environmental law, intellectual property law, international law and tax law. NYU Law s curriculum differs a b

#Law Office Management Software
(Availabilty of this product unknown.)
Web-Based Law Office Management Applications
Experts have been predicting that soon all of our software and data storage will only exist "in the cloud" (i.e. on the Internet.) It isn't happening as quickly as many predicted, especially for attorneys, but the quantity and increasing quality of this category of software indicates that the prognisticators may be correct. The emergence of the iPad may hasten the move to the cloud.
The disadvantages of Web-based law office management software are concerns about the company going out of business overnight (possibly taking both your software and your data with them), not being able to access your software or client files when access to the Internet is down or is otherwise inaccessible, concerns about security and local ethics rules that prohibit putting confidential client information on another's server.

Under US bankruptcy law. a person's estate consists of all assets or property of any kind available for distribution to creditors. [ 1 ] The estate (or assets) of a bankrupt person is administered by a trustee in bankruptcy. The legal position in all common law countries is similar in this respect.
In land law. the term "estate" is a remnant of the English feudal system. which created a complex hierarchy of estates and interests in land. The allodial or fee simple interest is the most complete ownership that one can have of property in the common law system. An estate can be an estate for years, an estate at will, a life estate (extinguishing at the death of the holder), an estate pur auter vie (a life interest for the life of another person) or a fee tail estate (to the heirs of one's body) or some more limited kind of heir (e.g. to heirs male of one's body).
Fee simple estates may be either fee simple absolute or defeasible (i.e. subject to future cond

#Law: No such thing as common-law wife
When Elayne Oxley sold her former council house and was poised to plough the proceeds into a new shared home in her partner's name, her solicitor delivered a warning that should have made her stop and think. To protect her interests, her right to a share in the ownership of the new house should be recorded in writing. Oxley blithely dismissed the advice, insisting airily that she knew her partner, Allan Hiscock well enough not to need written legal protection .
Thirteen years on, she has just emerged from a two-year legal battle with her former partner which is estimated to have run up total costs of at least 50,000. Last month she was awarded 40% of the proceeds of 35 Dickens Close, Hartley, Kent, in a court of appeal judgment which ensures Oxley v Hiscock a place in the law books.
Oxley, 51, who now runs a domiciliary care service, was divorced with three young children when she met Hiscock. He advised her to buy her council

Florida's lemon law that applies to boats covers new boats only. All boat buyers are covered. Boat lessees are covered by the lemon law only if they are responsible for maintenance and repairs on the boat and sign a lease agreement for at least a year. If a boat is transferred to a new owner before it is two years old, the new owner is covered by the lemon law.
Consumers should keep all receipts and paperwork when purchasing a new boat. When returning a boat under the lemon law, it's helpful for the owner to provide all invoices from attempted repairs. Florida's boat lemon law covers boats that spend a lot of time getting repaired. If a boat spends a total of 30 or more days in the repair shop during its first two years of life, it qualifies to be replaced under Florida's lemon law.
