Three of the top schools in the U.S. for criminal justice, law enforcement and corrections include Drury University, the John Jay College of Criminal Justice and the University of Louisville. All three schools offer undergraduate and/or graduate programs in an area related to criminal justice and were ranked among top schools by U.S. News World Report.

1. Drury University in Springfield, MO

Drury University is a private institution that ranked 11th on U.S. News World Report's list of best regional universities in the Midwest for 2011. The university offers a Master of Science in Criminal Justice program, through which students acquire an understanding of criminology, psychology and sociology. Course topics include juvenile justice and white collar crime; students also explore the relationship between police and society. A master's program in criminology is also available.

2. CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, NY

In 2011, the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, part of the City University of New York (CUNY), ranked 121st on U.S. News World Report's list of national universities. Undergraduate programs include topics in correctional studies and international criminal justice. In particular, students have the opportunity to examine justice systems and their rules, regulations and correctional operations. John Jay also offers degree programs in legal and police studies.

3. University of Louisville in KY

The University of Louisville was ranked 176th among national universities in 2011, according to U.S. News World Report. The university offers a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice that provides students with a thorough knowledge of the criminal justice system and court processes for adults and juveniles. They also acquire an understanding of the management principles that drive criminal justice administrations across the country. Qualified graduates may pursue careers in corrections, with the courts or in law enforcement.
