Why choose this course?

The Master of Laws deepens and broadens your legal learning, developing critical evaluation of the law and consideration and analysis of the attitudes and values underlying it. During the course, you will attain high competence in legal research and writing in areas of conceptual difficulty. With a variety of topics available in commercial transactions, construction and engineering law, electronic commerce law, insurance law, taxation law and corporate insolvency, you can also tailor your learning to include a research project.

The commercial major will give you the variety to choose units so you gain the insight you need to further your commercial career. You will learn from experts researching in the Commercial and Property Law Research Centre

To have a more customised learning experience, you can choose to complete this Masters without a specific major, giving you the flexibility to select units that are aligned with your interests, career and aspirations.

Units

The Master of Laws course structure comprises 96 credit points of coursework units consisting of:

  • 48 credit points of core units
  • Up to 24 credit points of Specialist (Law) Elective Units; and
  • At least 24 credit points of (Law) research Elective Units

Study Areas include:

  • Commercial Law
  • Generic

*International students must complete LWN305 Applied Law as one of their specialist Law electives.
