Study Psychology Online

Top Online Bachelor Degrees

Deakin Bachelor of Arts

Deakin University offers a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) degree to distance education students. It qualifies you to undertake higher-level study if you want to be a professional psychologist. The course covers both research-based and professional studies in psychology. It is part of a broad study program in the liberal and creative arts.

ECU psychology majors

Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western Australia allows online learners to study psychology as part of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. Psychology Researcher

Psychology researchers look at areas such as: addiction, ageing, anxiety, autism, body image, childhood and adolescence, chronic illness, criminology, depression, disability, eating disorders, obesity, offender reintegration, policing, substance abuse, workplace well-being, and quality of life. There is no prescribed level of study required but advanced courses, such as a Masters degree, are highly advantageous.

Registered Psychologist

Registered psychologist can call themselves psychologists and work in many fields. You need to complete a 4-year psychology degree or a bachelor degree plus a 4th year specialising in psychology (which could be an honours year or a graduate diploma). This gives provisional qualification. To be registered, you also need to complete 2 years of supervised experience or a 2-year accredited postgraduate degree.

Clinical Psychology

To practise clinical psychology, you generally need to a complete a Masters degree or PhD in the subject. This involves significant clinical training, which cannot be done online. Clinical psychologists often work in public or private hospitals, mental health clinics, private practice or academic settings. Speciality areas include child mental health, adult mental health, learning disabilities, emotional disturbances, substance abuse, geriatrics and health psychology.

CSU postgraduate courses

Charles Sturt University offers 3 postgraduate psychology degrees. The Grad Dip (2 years part-time) allows graduates from other fields to obtain the equivalent of a bachelor degree. A Postgrad Diploma (2-years part time) is required for professional accreditation. A Masters degree (4 years part time) is for registered psychologists wanting to be Clinical Psychologists.

UNE Clinical Psychology

UNE s clinical programs – MPsych(Clin) and PhD(ClinPsych) – prepare students to fill the unmet need for clinical psychologists in Australia (especially rural areas). In the first year, students receive extensive training in assessment and evidence-based treatments; then, under supervision, provide assessment and intervention to clients with disorders.

Students completing the MPsych(Clin) full-time need to be committed to being in Armidale for up to three days per week during their first year. In second year, students attend brief intensive schools. The programs are structured so that the components of clinical training requiring physical attendance (most coursework and the initial clinical placement) are packaged together at the beginning.
