#Seton Hall Law School Ratings RankingsWhat do these ratings mean?from Brian Dalton, Breaking Media Director of Research The ATL School and Firm Insiders Survey asks self-identified current students, alumni, and practicing lawyers to rate major aspects of life at their law school (academics, social life, clinical training, career services, financial aid advising) and/or law firm (compensation, hours, morale, culture, training). We then translate these ratings into letter grades, where the mean score for each particular ratings category is the equivalent of a “B.” EmploymentInsider ReviewsFine school. No problems. New Jersey s best private law school. Career Services is lacking greatly. Do not expect them to assist in your job search. I always felt like the administrators cared about me as an individual, rather than just one of many law students. The professors are very accessible. Most of your job search needs to be done on your own initiative. You can NOT rely on the Career Services Offices, which has very high turnover and scant connections, to find a job for you. It s improving with a new Director, but it still has a lot of problems, inefficiencies, and the staff does more work for the top students than anyone else. Faculty and course selection are excellent. There is no career center per se; it s a bunch of people who sit around and twiddle their collective fingers. I applied several times for reciprocity with other schools whose career centers care, but they always forgot or lost my application. Not ONCE did I get it. The only relationships they have are with big firms in Newark or small practices in the middle of NJ with alumni. The social life isn t great; you have to go to NYC to meet people, but what law student can afford that? Very pricey, mostly NJ career connections even though Seton Hall markets itself as a NYC/NJ school. You ll need to graduate near the top of your class to find a firm job. Most alums are employed in New Jersey law firms. The prosepcts outside of the tri-state area being pretty slim simply because most students choose to stay in New Jersey so the name recognition beyond is lacking.
