#International Law Enforcement Academies (ILEA)
International Law Enforcement Academies (ILEA)
Speaking before the United Nations General Assembly at its 50th Anniversary on October 22, 1995, then-President Clinton called for the establishment of a network of International Law Enforcement Academies (ILEAs) throughout the world to combat international drug trafficking, criminality, and terrorism through strengthened international cooperation.
Now, years later, the United States and participating nations have moved ahead with the establishment of ILEAs to serve four regions: Europe, Africa, South America and Asia.
Depending on regional needs and United States national interests, we are prepared to consider establishing similar ILEAs elsewhere. We would seek a host country that enjoys political stability, has the ability to provide adequate infrastructure and is willing to share costs and responsibilities. The Immigrant Justice Clinic works to meet the legal needs of Wisconsin’s underserved immigrant community while training law students in cutting-edge aspects of immigration law. Under the supervision of IJC clinical faculty, students provide direct representation to low-income immigrants in removal proceedings, provide assessments of immigration consequences to noncitizens facing criminal charges, and assist immigrants in need of post-conviction relief. Students enrolled in the Humanitarian Law Track (HLT) provide legal services to noncitizen victims of crime, persecution, and human trafficking who are seeking various forms of humanitarian relief. By assuming responsibility for matters affecting low-income immigrants, students gain experience with a holistic, client-centered model of legal representation, and emerge with a deep understanding of the interplay between race, poverty, language, culture, immigration status and the law.

#Immigration And Marriage: What Happens If You Marry Or Divorce A Foreign Spouse?
Hollywood movies have made it conventional wisdom that one way to speed through the red tape of immigration is to marry. This is true. Often, the marriage is one that is genuinely based on love and affection. Other times, not so much.
Federal officials say the revelation by Oregon first lady Cylvia Hayes that she married an Ethiopian man for $5,000 so he could get his green card has shined a light on the most common way to cheat the U.S. immigration system.
And potentially one of the most dangerous.
About 1 million foreign nationals gain legal status each year, and fully one-fourth of those are through marriage to an American citizen or someone who already is a lawful permanent resident, known as a green card holder.
Of those, some estimate 5% to 15% may be fraudulent, said Todd Siegel, a section chief with Homeland Security Investigations, which is part of Immigration

#In N. H, Christie pivots away from gun laws he once backed
MILFORD, N.H. — Gov. Chris Christie made another pivot away from the gun control policies he had advocated as New Jersey governor Friday.
On the heels of the shooting of four U.S. servicemen at a Chatanooga military recruitment center and nine churchgoers in Charleston, S.C. Christie was asked by a questioner at Chapanga's Griddle Grill for his position on assault weapons.
"We need an attorney general who's going to understand that we don't need to pass new laws," said Christie, a 2016 Republican candidate for president. "We have plenty of laws on the books to stop this."
Christie, who as governor had supported New Jersey bills that include an assault weapons sales ban in 2013. said he is now against any new federal gun legislation, which would include restoring an assault weapons ban that originally passed in 1994 and has since expired.
In April 2013, Christie proposed banning the sale of .

Earlier Thursday, business, civic and sports leaders who have strongly called for a fix to the legislation flanked Indiana Republicans as they announced sexual orientation and gender identity will be explicitly protected in the new law.

#Intellectual Property and Antitrust
Areas of Study
Curriculum
Intellectual property and information law
Intellectual property courses explore how (and how well) the law balances IP rights with openness to, in the words of the US Constitution, “promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts.”
The intellectual property curriculum begins with introductory courses in each of three major areas—patents, copyrights, and trademarks—or with a survey course on intellectual property law that provides an overview of the key aspects of all three areas. Students then can select from a rich menu of advanced courses and seminars. For example, students can study patent litigation issues with one of the country’s premier patent litigators or learn about international patent law from Professor Rochelle Dreyfuss, one of the drafters of the American Law Institute’s Project on Intellectual Property: Principles Governing Jurisdiction, Choice of Law, and Judg

#Insurance Law.
Insurance Law is, as the name implies, the body of law pertaining to insurance. This includes insurance policies, insurance claims, insurance regulations and rates, and recently enacted laws, like the Affordable Care Act. Basically, insurance law can be broken into three categories: the business of insurance, the content of insurance policies, and the handling of claims.
Business of Insurance
These laws affect the requirements for companies wishing to operate the insurance industry. These laws can vary widely from state to state, but can affect things like ensuring the insurance company will have sufficient liquidity to cover claims in the event of catastrophic events or natural disasters. These laws also govern licensing insurance companies, regulating who insurance companies can turn away from coverage, the types of insurance a company must offer in a jurisdiction if it wishes to offer other policies, and many others.

#Intellectual Property Law.
What is Intellectual Property Law?
Intellectual property law deals with the rules for securing and enforcing legal rights to inventions, designs, and artistic works. Just as the law protects ownership of personal property and real estate, so too does it protect the exclusive control of intangible assets. The purpose of these laws is to give an incentive for people to develop creative works that benefit society, by ensuring they can profit from their works without fear of misappropriation by others.
Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution gives Congress express authority to grant authors and inventors exclusive rights to their creations. Section 8 also gives Congress the power to regulate interstate and foreign commerce, providing further support for its right to legislate in this area. Intellectual property laws passed by Congress are administered by two government agencies, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and the U.S.

#Policies - Laws
State and local lawmakers have taken action to prevent bullying and protect children. Through laws (in their state education codes and elsewhere) and model policies (that provide guidance to districts and schools), each state addresses bullying differently. Find out how your state refers to bullying in its laws and what they require on part of schools and districts.
Bullying, cyberbullying, and related behaviors may be addressed in a single law or may be addressed in multiple laws. In some cases, bullying appears in the criminal code of a state that may apply to juveniles.
In December 2010, the U.S. Department of Education reviewed state laws and identified 11 key components common among many of those laws.

#Internet privacy: how Australia s new laws will work
New privacy laws will come into operation in Australia in March this year. The amendments to the Privacy Act will introduce a new and harmonised set of privacy principles. While there is still plenty of room for improvement, the new laws make some important steps in protecting privacy, particularly with the collection of data online.
The new reforms apply to all bodies that collect or store personal information about Australians. They don’t operate in a vacuum; there is a broad (if somewhat patchwork) frame of privacy laws across the globe, and the way that they interact with some of these different laws will be interesting to follow in coming years. Here’s a guide to some of the changes and some comments from Australia’s information commissioner, Professor John McMillan, on the changes.
How your data is being collected and what it’s being used for
Organisations that collect personal data must take reas
