#Drink driving and the legal alcohol limit

Get all the essential facts on drink driving.

In 2012, 1,200 people were seriously injured when a driver was over the legal alcohol limit. As a result, 280 people were killed in drink driving accidents (1).

These figures are too high but accidents involving drink driving have decreased hugely over the last 35 years. Deaths and serious injuries related to drink driving have fallen by more than three-quarters since 1979 (2).

What's the law on drink driving in England and Wales?

In England and Wales, the alcohol limit for drivers is 80 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres  of blood, 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath or 107 milligrammes  per 100 millilitres of urine. In most other European countries, the limit is less, usually 50 milligrammes per 100 millilitres of blood (3).

#Draft Substantive Patent Law Treaty

In November 2000, the need for patent law harmonization going beyond formalities led WIPO's Standing Committee on the Law of Patents (SCP). at its fourth session. to decide to initiate work on harmonization of substantive patent law with a view to concluding a Substantive Patent Law Treaty (SPLT). The SCP agreed to focus initially on a number of issues of direct relevance to the grant of patents, in particular, the definition of prior art, novelty, inventive step/non-obviousness, industrial applicability/utility, the drafting and interpretation of claims and the requirement of sufficient disclosure of the invention.

The EEOC, per Executive Order 13563, 76 Fed. Reg. 3821 (Jan. 21, 2011), has developed a Final Plan for Regulatory Review of Significant Regulations (Final Plan).

EEOC will use the Final Plan as a guide to determine whether regulations should be modified, streamlined, expanded, or repealed, to make the EEOC's regulatory program more effective and/or less burdensome in achieving its regulatory objectives.
