Businesses work with laws every day, for example in proposals, tenders and contracts. Knowledge of business law can give you the ability to recognise potential issues and manage legal risk. This major will give you a sound knowledge of the laws that govern commercial transactions. You can learn how the law is created, changed and applied to business and government, and appreciate ethical issues in business situations. You will gain a solid foundation in business law and develop significant knowledge of torts, real property, company law and consumer law, and study units in contract law, real property, intellectual property, torts and taxation. While this major does not lead to a professional legal qualification, it aims to meet the increasing demand for graduates who have the legal knowledge and skills to work in corporate business or government. Business Law is offered as part of the Bachelor of Commerce. You can enhance your studies with a secondary major or choose from a range of elective units to support your career goals. When coupled with International Relations you can complete this major as part of our Bachelor of Commerce. Your choice determines your core units.
