#Top 54 Complaints and Reviews about South University Consumer Complaints ReviewsVery misleading. I was a young single mother, made very little money and when I looked into this school, they really sugar coated a lot. I did not realize the amount of debt I would inherit after graduation and only receiving an AA degree. I took one class at a time as I worked full time and raised my daughter. I attended school from January 2009 and finally finished my AA December 2014. I borrowed $38K and now I owe over $64K. That is almost double. How can this be? I cry thinking that now I could NEVER help my daughter when she goes to college, that I still can not even get a decent paying job with an AA and can't afford to go back for my BA. The school wasn't what I imagined a college experience should be. They kept changing counselors, I was withdrawn by mistake and at times it was a nightmare. They gave me classes I didn't need or told me I didn't need classes I actually needed. This is a debt I will always have. I can't afford the $600+ payments a month they want in order to make a dent in this loan. I only make $36K a year and my 15 year old daughter isn't cheap. Feeding her, clothing her, paying for her after school programs so she won't sit at home getting into God knows what while I'm at work and whatever else as a mother I pay, and with these loans on my back it's very depressing. I left school to help my ex, then he left us, and then I went back to finish my degree but now with this loan on my credit, my debt ratio is too high that I now I don't have decent credit so I'm just screwed all the way around. If you decide to go here, though it may sound like it's easy, and a great choice, just know it's costly, they are not honest with what it will cost you and it's a business. Not a school that cares about educating.
