I can t give a law school 5 stars because no one should love law school that much.

Ok. That being said:

Great Professors, an amazing offering of classes (especially in intellectual property), great location (2 blocks from Union Square), and absolutely tons of resources for networking, jobs, and events (both social and academic). The faculty is really top notch - extremely knowledgeable, always keeping discussions current and relevant, and still very much involved in the field of law.

For my 150th I felt it appropriate to review the very thing that brought me to New York City.  Now, I know most of you could care less about this educational institution of advanced legal studies, and are probably confused as to how this can be reviewed on Yelp at all.  I would whole heartedly agree, the minute a potential law student begins looking up law schools on Yelp forgoing the extensive research that truly should be done through Princeton Review books and U.S. News and World Report,  hell hath frozen over.

But, I digress.  In the fall of 2003, I sent out ten applications to law schools on the west coast, east coast, and Lake Michigan coast.  I was lovingly accepted into all but 2, as I was wait listed at Cardozo, and Hastings in SF.  In or about June, 2004, I received a phone call from (the former) Dean of Admissions Robert Schwartz offering me a position in the Fall 2004 entering class, I gladly accepted, but with a slight laugh.

You see, I jokingly applied to Cardozo because it is a part of Yeshiva University. which, as a Jewess I thought was hilarious since I m jew ish and knew my family would get a kick out of me going to a private Jewish law school.  And, while it is the law school of Yeshiva, it s now only about 40% Jewish and possibly even less, the big issue was that the school can only sell kosher food and have kosher food at its events, which is costly and not necessarily so tasty, sorry observers!

Accepting a spot in the 2004 entering class was probably one of the smartest decisions I have ever made.  It brought me to New York City where I have always wanted to live, and the only place in the world that could appreciate. well, my personality.

My three years at the Dozo were stressful, tiring, fun, hard, and time consuming.  The school has a great familial atmosphere, the student body is warm and friendly, yet competitive.  There are a lot of great social activities, great courses, and excellent professors.

The main problem with the Doz is that the school is younger than I am.  And, a graduate school, especially a law school in NYC, thrives on its alumni database.  As a young institution, there are very few partners at big firms, or well established attorneys that can assist with the career development of Cardozo recent grads.  Therein lies the rub, while the school is currently working very hard to develop this base, it rubs a lot of students the wrong way, who then do not want to later support the school.  It s an alumni Catch-22 if you will.

While I experienced this issue, I was still able to get a great education, an amazing job, and make some life long friends.  [ugh I hate positive statements like that, puh-yuke]  Oh, and I know tons of funny law jokes!  Yay nerds!
