#Detkin Intellectual Property - Technology Legal Clinic: Detkin Intellectual Property - Technology Clinic • Penn Law The Detkin Intellectual Property and Technology Legal Clinic (“IPC”) immerses students in a transactional interdisciplinary IP law practice.
The IPC provides pro bono transactional patent, copyright, trademark and trade secret services to individuals, non-profit and for-profit clients in technology and the arts. The Clinic is groundbreaking in establishing a unique relationship with The Penn Center for Innovation (“PCI”) and tapping into the resources of Penn’s strong network of professional schools (including the Schools of Engineering, Medicine, Business [Wharton], Arts and Sciences, and other Penn departments and programs). The IPC adds a new dimension to Penn Law’s robust IP offerings. The IPC is closely integrated with Penn Law’s curriculum in law and technology and builds upon the strengths of its research programs, such as Penn Law’s Center for Technology, Innovation and Competition. Students in the IPC also partner with the student-run Penn Intellectual Property Group (PIPG) to offer “boot camp” sessions to advise the public and the greater Penn community about topics in IP law. And Penn Law sponsors a team for the national transactional IP LawMeet. The Detkin Clinic was made possible by a generous gift from Peter Detkin EE’82, L’85, the noted IP entrepreneur and Founder and Vice Chairman of Intellectual Ventures, an invention investment firm, who currently serves on the Board of Overseers for Penn’s School of Engineering and Applied Science. The IP Clinic does not operate during the summer months. You are welcome to apply now and we will be reviewing applications for new clients for the next semester (Fall 2015) in mid August 2015. Thank you!
