#Recommended Pre-Law Courses
Helpful Information for Enrolled Students
Our Governing Documents
Suggested Coursework to Help Prepare for Success in Law School
As stated on our pre-law advising home page, there is no set curriculum required for admission to law school. There are, however, sets of skills that students should develop over their college careers that will help them prepare for the LSAT and for success in their law school classes. The Department of Criminal Justice requires a number of such courses both within the Department's core curriculum and through its cognate courses in related fields. In addition, there are a number of courses in other departments that pre-law students should take as electives to further develop their critical reasoning and writing abilities.

#Removing Late Payments From Your Credit Report
Late Payments can have a detrimental effect on your credit score.
One recent late payment on a single account can lower a score by 15 to 40 points, and missing one payment cycle for all accounts in the same month can cause a score to tank by 150 points or more.
A single 90 day late payment also factors heavily in your credit score and is about as damaging as a collection account, judgment, tax lien, and even a bankruptcy.
Consecutive late payments are even more harmful to your score, as each subsequent late payment is weighted more heavily.
Let the industry leader help!
Whether you have a single 90 day late payment or a series of lesser late payments, if they are being incorrectly reported on your credit reports, you can dispute them with the credit reporting agencies and the lender who reported it.

#Right-to-Work Laws Explained, Debunked And Demystified
English: Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
One of the enduring myths of legislation designed to bring ‘right-to-work’ laws to the states is the notion that these laws actually have something to do with the right to work.
They decidedly do not.
While—as we will see—the misnomer has nothing whatsoever to do with granting anyone a right to get work or protecting those who have a job from losing it, this “misunderstanding-by-design” has not prevented the Michigan legislature from sending two bills to the desk of Governor Rick Snyder.—legislation that, upon execution, will turn Michigan into the 24 th state to adopt right-to-work laws.
Accordingly, this seems an appropriate moment to set the record straight on what these laws are, in actuality, intended to achieve.
Let’s begin by noting that many Americans continue to believe that unionism is based around the concep

#Roman law
Roman law , the law of ancient Rome from the time of the founding of the city in 753 bce until the fall of the Western Empire in the 5th century ce. It remained in use in the Eastern, or Byzantine, Empire until 1453. As a legal system, Roman law has affected the development of law in most of Western civilization as well as in parts of the East. It forms the basis for the law codes of most countries of continental Europe (see civil law ) and derivative systems elsewhere.
The term Roman law today often refers to more than the laws of Roman society. The legal institutions evolved by the Romans had influence on the laws of other peoples in times long after the disappearance of the Roman Empire and in countries that were never subject to Roman rule. To take the most striking example, in a large part of Germany. until the adoption of a common code for the whole empire in 1900, the Roman law was in force as “subsidiary law”; that is, it was applie

#Roman Law Definition
Form and content of law that was developed by the Romans during their 1,000 year empire starting in 500 BC; form in that it was written, and with content that sought to publish a comprehensive code of private law thus addressed a predictable structure for its people and the economy.
Roman law is the source of modern civil law .
When the Roman Empire began, circa 500 BC, it benefited greatly from a code of laws that was published in all the major centers for the people to read and for the judges to enforce: the Twelve Tables .
The Romans expanded upon the Twelve Tables, tentatively at first, benefiting from great legal minds and writers such as Tiberius Coruncanius (281-241 BC) and, later, Cicero (106 to 43 BC) as well as direct forays into amendment such as Lex Aquila of 286 BC .
The law they developed was logical and for the most part, commensurate with most people's common sense. In a nutshell, although it often provided rough

#Rules of the Internet
About
Rules of the Internet is a list of protocols and conventions, originally written to serve as a guide for those who identified themselves with the Internet group Anonymous. The list serves as a summation of popular catchphrases and axioms commonly associated with 4chan. Since there are numerous drafts and editions in circulation, the rules fluctuate in number and the validity of each rule remains debatable. Despite this, several of the rules including Rule 34 and Rule 63 are agreed upon across internet communities.
Origin
The idea of making a set of rules, similar to Netiquette [5] for 4chan users, was initially talked about on Anonymous-related IRC channels before an entry was submitted to Encyclopedia Dramatica sometime in late 2006 and archived [6] on January 10th, 2007. The entry was highly debated on its discussion page [7] as well as the site’s forums. At the time of the archival, there were 18 rules in

#Service dogs laws
National Service Dogs is committed to helping service dog users achieve greater independence and equality. Service and guide dog use has been on a steady incline over the last 25 years and society, for the most part, has embraced the work of service providers and service dog teams across Canada. Despite increases in public education and increases in the number of dogs with jobs, accessibility for many service/guide dog users can still be a challenge.
Accessibility laws across Canada differ from province to province, and in many cases are antiquated, poorly defined, and do not take into account the various needs of individuals with disabilities being supported by service dogs.
Although National Service Dogs has been providing services to children with autism for over 15 years, NSD s Certified Service Dog program is still seen as a new and innovative program by government standards and timelines.

#ROY HATTERSLEY on aw that could turn every dog owner into a criminal
Guilty: Roy Hattersley's pet Buster (right) once killed a Royal goose - but he says the new law has flaws
There are no bad dogs —only bad owners. That was what I was brought up to believe. And I believe it still.
And that is why I welcomed, with great enthusiasm, the Government’s decision to introduce a new Dangerous Dogs Act and replace the foolish attempt to identify bad dogs with a sensible policy of rooting out bad owners.
The purpose of the new Act — which we should all applaud — is to protect the public against dogs which are taught to fight and kill, dogs which are driven wild by neglect, dogs which are taught to intimidate and dogs which so lack training and discipline that they are completely out of control.
But the bureaucrats of Whitehall possess a remarkable ability to make even the most sensible policy seem ridiculous. Under the law, which came into force this

#Scientific Laws and Theories
SCIENTIFIC LAWS and THEORIES
I've had a student ask me to clarify the difference between a scientific law and a theory . This person asked, in part:
. Is a law, in essence, something which has no detractors -- a unifying 'concept' for which scientists (at the present time) are in accordance with? Is a law a single idea by which all scientists, regardless of discipline, conform?
Can a theory be looked at as a 'transitory' law (i.e. a law in waiting)? In contrast to a law, is it correct to say that there can be several scientific theories about a particular phenomena whereas a law represents a single unified agreement among all scientists .
Such questions are very common. The difference between a law and a theory often confuses people. This happens, in part, because even among scientists there can be different usage of these terms. Of course, to the general public, these terms have very different me

A police officer pulls you over, and you are given a citation for violating the speed limit. You have broken a vehicle and traffic law. This law is established by legislature as a statute, or a law that is formally written and enacted. As a result, the law you broke was a statutory law.

#School saves 150 failing students with quickie online courses
MORE ON:
Flushing HS put 150 flunking students in quickie online “credit recovery” courses and pressured teachers to reverse failing grades to boost a lower-than-50 percent graduation rate, a stunning internal e-mail shows.
“Our benchmark of a 60 percent graduation rate in June is nonnegotiable,” Patricia Cuti, assistant principal for guidance, insisted in a June 1 missive to staff.
With fewer than two weeks before the end of regular classes, all 150 students were enrolled in Apex Learning online courses, where they could get a quick and easy replacement for a semester or year’s work.
“With 150 students failing a grad requirement, we are looking at a rate of less than 50 percent,” Cuti wrote. “Every effort to assist these students in reaching all the graduation requirements is necessary.
“I urge you to call the homes as well. ENCOURAGE these students. The ONLY message they nee
