Rental car laws vary from state to state, so it is important to understand the laws that apply to the state you are planning to visit and rent your car in.
It almost goes without saying that all drivers who will be driving the rental car will need a valid driver's license. This does not include learner's permits. Foreign nationals may use their international driver's license, if they have one. If you wish to use your license from your home country, you will most likely also need to produce your passport and additional identification. Make sure to check with the rental company before you arrive in order to make sure you bring what you need.
In New York, anyone over the age of 18 may rent a car, as long as they have a valid driver's license and insurance. Any extra costs for insuring you as a younger driver may be passed to you in the price of the rental itself as car rental companies are permitted to charge different rates depending on the age of the person renting th

#What to do with a degree in law
Sponsored by:
S tudying takes years of hard graft followed by at least two more years of vocational training to qualify as a solicitor or barrister. But there are plenty of other career options for law graduates who don't necessarily want to have their day in court.
They will have learned about the laws governing the constitution as well as areas such as criminal, civil, European, land and human rights law.
But the years of perusing past cases, and poring through books, will not be wasted for those who decide to pursue a different path.
They will have the skills to work in any number of other careers, from accountancy and business to journalism and education.
Famous law graduates include Bob Mortimer, who graduated from Sussex University before opting for comedy over courtroom drama.
What skills have you gained?
Your degree will have given you a thorough understanding of th

Touro College claims an online-only school is turning out graduates with phony law degrees, according to a lawsuit.
Marshall Islands-based Novus University Law School “engaged in false, deceptive, misleading and unfair practices by representing itself to be a bona fide foreign law school,” Touro claims in Manhattan Supreme Court papers.
Touro — itself once embroiled in a grade-changing scandal — says Novus collected tuition from students but “conferred worthless law degrees,” according to court papers filed last week.
Authorities in Texas and Oregon have already declared law degrees from Novus invalid, and Touro is asking a judge to declare the school a diploma mill.
“Novus graduates often apply and are erroneously accepted to American Bar Association-accredited programs,” Touro charged.
Touro said it made the discovery when it became embroiled in “meritless litigation” involving Novus, which did not respond to messages seeking comment.

#C# Interview Questions: Can you answer them all?
So you want to land your dream job as a C# programmer? You will need to prove that you know your stuff before any organization will hire you. Here are ten of the most common interview questions that interviewers will use to test your technical knowledge and problem solving skills. Can you answer them all?
1. What are the advantages of C# over C, C++ or Java?
Like C++ and Java, C# is a high-level object-oriented programming language. It is generally more efficient than Java and has useful features such as operator overloading. C# is based on C++ but has several advantages over this older language: it is type-safe, more comprehensively object-oriented, and the syntax has been simplified in several important ways. Most importantly, C# interoperates exceptionall

#Common Interview Questions in Education
By Beth Lewis. Elementary Education Expert
Before my job interviews, I took some time to ponder and prepare my answers to these common interview questions. I even wrote out my answers and studied them, so that the language and explanations came naturally to me during my time under the interview spotlight.
Interview Knowledge Is Power

Lo and behold, the interviewers did, in fact, ask me many of these questions. So, my preparation efforts definitely paid off!
Brainstorm The Best Answers
It s also a good idea to brainstorm possible questions related to your specific situation. For example, if you are interviewing at a Title I school, they might ask you, What do you know about Title I? Think of everything now, so that your brain can be on automatic pilot in the interview.
Be prepared to answer the following interview questions:<

#10 Questions Veterinarians Really Wish Pet Owners Would Ask

If owners only knew to ask the right questions, my patients would have it so much easier. My life would be easier, too! Here are 10 perfect examples:
1. What kind of pet do you recommend for my family?
When I think of how many problems I could head off by having this conversation before the new pet happens, I wonder why we don’t recommend that more clients come in for pre-pet consultations.
2. Where should I find my pet?
A corollary to #1, this is another one of those fraught issues that I wish people would ask me about in advance of any purchase or adoption: no pet stores, no online purchases. Get breed club recommendations. And ask for refer

#Can You Refuse to Answer Police Questions?
You can almost always refuse to answer police questions, but depending on the circumstances it may produce somewhat different legal results.
Here is a general breakdown of your legal options when questioned by the police in three common scenarios:
1. If You're Stopped On the Street
The right to remain silent -- your most popular Fifth Amendment-based Miranda right against self-incrimination -- isn't required to be read or spoken to you until you are in police custody and are being questioned .
In Terry v. Ohio, the U.S. Supreme Court decided that police could make brief investigatory stops without probable cause and without violating the Fourth Amendment, assuming they have specific and articulable facts to justify the stop .
When stopped by the police on the street, you can always refuse to answer any of their questions, and you ma

A migrant family from the South seeks a better life in Mexico.
Photo: Luis J. Jimenez/The New York Times
The chorus of critics of Arizona's new law targeting suspected illegal immigrants has been joined by an unlikely voice. It belongs to Mexican President Felipe Calderon, who has blasted the Arizona law as opening the door "to intolerance, hate, discrimination and abuse in law enforcement."
Just one problem with Calderon's holier-than-thou posturing. His own country's Reglamento de la Ley General de Poblacion General Law on Population, which was enacted in April 2000 is quite similar to the Arizona law, with one important difference. It is far stricter and the penalties for violating it far more draconian.
Under the Mexican law, illegal immigration is a felony. The penalty includes up to two years in prison. That jail time
is upped to 10 years for repeat offenders. Visa violators can be sentenced to prison terms of 6 years, and any Mexican wh

Although every school has its own set of MBA prerequisites, most of them generally revolve around the same categories. Most MBA programs will require candidates to submit their academic transcripts, submit all applicable standardized test scores and complete a series of essays, among other things. Some programs prefer that candidates have work experience as well.

When applying to various MBA programs, candidates will need to submit their academic transcripts with their applications. These documents will indicate the courses taken and the grades.

Even If You Have Abysmal LSAT Scores

Dear Prospective Lawyer:
I’m Peter Loughlin, attorney and author of The New Special Report: The Law School Bible. Like many of you I always wanted to be a lawyer, but was never able to overcome the many barriers and confusion surrounding the requirements to become a lawyer and a licensed member of the Bar. That is, until I discovered alternative paths into the legal profession.
I embarked on a quest to become a lawyer that opened my eyes to the fact that there was not only one way to become a lawyer, in fact there are a number of ways. But every time I asked State Bar officials about exactly how I could use these alternative methods I was scoffed at and told it couldn’t be done, period. Fortunately for me I refused to take no for an answer and eventually broke “the code” and joined the ranks of practicing attorneys.

Pearl, Oisin and Tatiana on graduation day
Welcome to the Law subject page at King s! Here you will find an overview of the subject in the University and the College, the people who teach and research Law at King s, and what will happen when you apply.
What is Law?
The word law usually conjures up either a graphic snapshot of the more sensational murders, rapes and other violent crimes that grace the pages of the tabloid press, or the depressing image of balding, middle-aged, grey men in pin-striped City suits worrying about the placing of a comma. Neither picture is wholly wrong, but both are inadequate.
Law is indeed about drama, conflict, the individual and society. It is also about rigorous logic, care and precision, clarity of thought and attention to detail. Law is not an easy ticket to being a fat cat . It can be an absorbing, passionate and very satisfying way of spending a working life.

In Louisiana, as in most states in the U.S. child support ends automatically when children are grown up. Each state has its own age of majority and its own exceptions when support can terminate before the majority of the child or when support obligations can continue beyond the majority. In Louisiana, when child support orders cover more than one child in the award, the non-custodial parent has to go to court to get an adjustment to the order when the older children are no longer entitled to support. The change will not happen automatically.
Under Louisiana Code section 315.22 the duty to pay child support terminates automatically when the minor child reaches the age of majority if the support award is for only one child. If the support award covers more than one child in a single order, the duty to pay the support does not automatically terminate until the youngest child covered by the support order reaches the age of majority. In Louisiana, the age of majority is 18 years.

East Lansing voters on Tuesday approved a municipal ballot measure removing criminal and civil penalties for minor marijuana offenses. East Lansing is the seventeenth Michigan city to approve a municipal ballot initiative depenalizing marijuana related activities.
Puerto Rican Gov. Alejandro J. Garcia Padilla signed an executive order on Sunday to allow for the therapeutic use of cannabis and cannabinoids in the US territory. The Governor acknowledged that several US states have already legalized the plant for therapeutic purposes and that Puerto Rican patients would similarly benefit from a change in law.
The gateway theory is still hanging around after all these years. #Law of torts
definition
tort law: an overview
Torts are civil wrongs recognized by law as grounds for a lawsuit. These wrongs result in an injury or harm constituting the basis for a claim by the injured party. While some torts are also crimes punishable with imprisonment, the primary aim of tort law is to provide relief for the damages incurred and deter others from committing the same harms. The injured person may sue for an injunction to prevent the continuation of the tortious conduct or for monetary damages.(See Damages )
Among the types of damages the injured party may recover are: loss of earnings capacity, pain and suffering, and reasonable medical expenses. They include both present and future expected losses.
Torts fall into three general categories: intentional torts (e.g.. intentionally hitting a person); negligent torts (e.g.. causing an accident by failing to obey traffic rules); and strict liability tort

U.S. immigration laws regarding marriage have been tightened over the years due to the historical abuse of marriage as a means to obtain a green card. The federal government has many requirements applicants must meet to demonstrate that their marriage is one of good faith and not a sham for permanent residency.
Immigration laws make it possible for both fianc s and spouses of American citizens to enter the United States and obtain permanent residency solely on the basis of marriage. However, the engaged person must show an immediate intent to marry the American citizen, "immediate" meaning within 90 days of entry. The entry visa is known as a K-1 and requires multiple application forms, including a preliminary petition (I-129F) and an interview at the U.S. Consulate General during which the engagement must be proven legitimate. Proof of relationship, such as photographs, timeline, plane tickets, phone records and letters are all required. Only after the marriage can the fore

#Law School Offers Free Tuition To 50 Applicants
We know the new economics for middle-tier law schools. Applications are down, so to convince students with good test scores to come to your school, you have to offer them money. It s the market, imperfect though it may be, at work.
So when a law school offers full scholarships to a number of students with strong academic credentials, don t think that it s doing you a favor. They re trying to fill their seats, not trying to address the fundamental cost problem of law school. If a law school is offering scholarships to high-performing students, that means that the low-performing students who are paying full price are subsidizing the people in their class who are most likely to bust up the curve. Addressing the value proposition of law school involves lowering tuition for all students, not making law school free for the kids with potentially better options.
That said, there s nothing wrong with a little price co

How does LawHelp Interactive work?
LawHelp Interactive (or LHI and formerly known as NPADO) is a web site that lets people create legal documents. To create a document you will be given an online interview where you will answer questions and at the end of the interview you will be able to request your finished document. Once the document comes up, you can download or print it from your computer. Most interviews also print out instructions on what to do next. LawHelp Interactive is managed by Pro Bono Net. It runs on HotDocs Server software, and interviews are created using HotDocs, A2J and Neota Logic formats. Regular users do not need any special software to create legal papers hosted on LawHelp Interactive.
LawHelp Interactive also provides training and support to legal aid and courts who want to start or have projects in in LHI. If you are with a legal nonprofit, pro bono group, library or a Court, please visit: http://www.probono.net/d

#Law of Segregation - Biology-Online Dictionary
Gregor Mendel 's law stating that paired alleles separate during gamete formation. Consequently, each gamete would contain only one copy of every paired unit factors.
Supplement
This theory was found true when meiosis was extensively delineated in the following years. During anaphase II of meiosis. the genes on the homologous chromosomes separate as the homologous chromosomes move apart from each other toward the opposite sides of the dividing cell.
The Law of Segregation holds that the zygote formed from the union of gametes from its parents during fertilization contain unit factors (now called genes ) are pure or remained uncontaminated from the time that the zygote is formed through the time that it grows and develops toward maturity. At the time that the offspring produces its own gametes. members of these paired unit factors segregate from one another and enter independently into the n

Mendel Pea Plant Experiment
The Law of Segregation is based on one of the benchmark scientific experiments in genetic studies, the Mendel Pea Plant Experiment.
Save this course for later
It was a stroke of genius considering that it was performed in the 19th century.
Of course, Mendel knew nothing about the processes behind inherited behavior, but found out the rules dictating how characteristics are passed down through the generations.
The way in which he meticulously planned his experiment to generate testable. rather than observational data, is a shining example of experimental design .
Gregory Mendel was an Austrian monk studying at the University of Vienna. Like many pioneering scientists, his discoveries were largely ignored until long after his death.

#Law of Supply: Definition - Example
Instructor: Tara Schofield
This lesson explains the law of supply. The connection between the law of supply and pricing is discussed. Several examples of provided to further explain the law of supply in action
What is Law of Supply?
Pricing is one of the biggest opportunities and one of the greatest challenges a company faces. If you are creating a price for a product, you must consider how much consumers are willing to pay without underpricing your product. Pricing is a critical aspect of the law of supply.
The law of supply is an economic principle that helps explain how to appropriately price products based on how much supply is available of a product. The law of supply explains that if people are willing to pay more money for a product, a company will produce or manufacture more of that product to capitalize on the increased revenue.
The opposite also holds true that as the price of a

#Law School And Student Loan Debt: Be Careful
Follow Comments Following Comments Unfollow Comments
For many students in political science, history, or other liberal arts majors, law school always seemed like a smart choice after college. Being a lawyer, at least as depicted on television, meant wearing nice suits, earning a good salary, and having a life you enjoy.
However, the reality for many law school graduates is much different. Over the last few years, there has been a deluge of law school graduates, which has pushed down starting wages, increased competition for the few positions available, and left a lot of graduates buried in private student loan debt with not enough income to repay it.
The Costs Of A Law Degree
According to the American Bar Association. the average debt taken on by a law school graduate was $84,000 if you attend public schools and $122,158 if you attend private schools. This is just for going to law school

Known as an innovative, business-oriented law school, Northwestern Law offers more to its students than just a prime central Chicago location. With its well-established preference for students with work experience and demonstrated interpersonal skills, the school fosters a professional environment. Employment statistics, though relatively solid, are weaker than most of the traditional top 14 law schools. The total cost of attendance, however, is second-highest, behind only Berkeley for out-of-staters.
One 2L said: "The student body is excellent, most of which has done something interesting before law school. Students tend to bring interesting perspectives into the classroom as a result, and I think this is a major advantage over schools primarily composed of people straight through from undergrad."
Northwestern Law places a heavy emphasis on global enterprises and practical learning and has highly regarded study abroad, clinical, and interdisciplinary programs in the
