Using Internet Explorer 7

Open Internet Explorer 7 on your computer.

Click on the down-arrow button next to the search button.

Select "Change Search Defaults. " at the bottom of the drop-down menu.

Click on "Find more providers. " at the bottom of the "Change Search Defaults" dialog box.

Click the "Use current" button in the homepage section of the "General" tab. This will open up another window that displays various search providers.

Click on Ask.com in the "Web Search" column. An "Add Search Provider" dialog box will pop up on your screen.

Check the check box next to "Make this my default search provider." A check mark should appear in the box.

Click the "Add Provider" button. Ask.com is your default search engine.

Using Internet Explorer 5 or 6

Make sure Internet Explorer 5 or 6 is open on your computer.

Click the "Search" button on the toolbar. The search pane will open up on the left side of the window.

Select "Customize" in the search pane. The "Customize Search Settings" dialog box will pop up on your screen.

Click the "Autosearch" settings button at the bottom of the dialog box. Another dialog box will pop up on your screen.

Choose "Ask.com" from the drop-down menu.

Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
