Q. My pediatrician said that I should keep my five year old in a booster car seat. but the law here in Texas says that kids only have to ride in a car seat up until they are four years old. Who is right?

Still, many state car seat laws are way behind the times in terms of safety. Florida, for example, doesn t require car seats for preschool age children. Simply following your state s car seat laws might not get you a ticket, but it won t be the best protection for your child if you are in a car accident .

Since car seat laws and booster seat laws vary from state to state and most are still inadequate, you are much better off simply following the car seat guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and keeping your child who has outgrown his forward-facing car seat in ... Dog bites can lead to serious personal injuries requiring immediate medical attention. Unfortunately, dog bites are incredibly common throughout the United States. According to the American Humane Association, there are roughly 4.7 million annual dog bites each year, with 800,000 requiring medical care.

It s estimated each year insurance companies pay out over $1 billion in dog-bite related claims. This is a significant figure and is a result of the severity and pervasiveness of dog bites.

There are many reasons why a dog bites. Dogs bite out of fear or to protect their territory or to establish their dominance over the person bitten. Some owners mistakenly teach their dogs that biting is an acceptable form of play behavior, and every year a number of newborn infants die when they are bitten by dogs that see them as prey. There are several common sense methods of preventing dog bites, but sometimes there is no way to avoid an attack. If you are attac ... Read more »

#Part B of IDEA: Services for School-Aged Children

Part B of IDEA governs how special education and related services are provided to school-aged children with disabilities.

Updated, August 2014

A legacy resource from NICHCY

Since the enactment of the original legislation in 1975, children and youth (ages 3-22) receive special education and related services under Part B of IDEA. Part B is so named because it s the second part of the law itself. Its four parts are:

  • Part A General Provisions
  • Part B Assistance for Education of All Children with Disabilities
  • Part C Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities
  • Part D National Activities to Improve Education of Children with Disabilities

For school-aged children with disabilities (including preschoolers), Part B is the foundation upon which special education and related services rest.

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) has safety laws and guidelines in place to keep drivers and pedestrians safe on the road. Safety laws cover everything from child car seats, seat belts, drunk driving, and helmets.

Make sure you follow the rules to keep yourself and others safe, and avoid receiving a fine, license suspension, or even jail time.

It is also important to know that, if you receive a citation, additional county penalties may be added on top of state fines. Check with your county clerk for additional fines and fees.

It is the responsibility of the supervising adult to ensure that any child under 7 years old is seated in a federally-approved child car seat. Failure to do so could result in a $60 fine and 3 points against your driver's license.

Florida law states:

  • Children 7 years old or younger must be secured in a federally approved child restraint system. ... Read more »

The facts below illustrate why right to work is wrong for workers, businesses, and our economy. (You can also download this fact sheet as a PDF .)

Wrong for workers

    Expert: L. Gappy - 12/18/2007

    Question

I am applying to law school. I graduated from a smaller-sized state college two years ago with a 2.95 GPA and I am expecting to score in the mid 150's on my LSAT in February. I was not overly involved in extracurricular activities (one honor society, a sorority, and student government) and I have no exceedingly diverse characteristics (white female from the South). I have spent the past two years in the army reserves on a full time basis and I am finally realizing that my calling in life is law. I am applying to five schools in the fall. of those five, two are 2-tiers, two are 3-tiers, one is a 4-tier; I am very worried that I will not get into any ABA law schools for the fall because of my mediocre resume and lack of extraordinary circumstances to explain my GPA. Bottom line, I was more interested in social life than academics in college, and I am paying the price today! Being that I cannot change my pas ... Read more »

Among the many legal issues presented by the Internet, privacy is a leading problem. In fact, Internet privacy covers a broad range of concerns: fears about the safety of children in chat rooms and on the World Wide Web, the privacy of e-mail, the vulnerability of web users to having their Internet use habits tracked, the collection and use of personal information, the freedom of people to chat and post messages anonymously. Moreover, the rapid evolution of the Internet has frequently brought such privacy concerns before lawmakers and the courts.

Privacy concerns are frequently newsworthy. During the 1990s, child safety advocates highlighted special online dangers for children following high-profile abuse cases. Internet commerce has also been affected, too. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) report noted in 2000 in its annual report to Congress that survey data demonstrated 92% of consumers are concerned about the misuse of personal information online. #Faraday - s Law - Lenz - s Law - Physics Video by Brightstorm

The Faraday - Lenz law states that when you have change in magnetic flux, you generate electromotive force. The formula to determine the Faraday - Lenz law is magnetic flux = magnetic field x area.

So let s talk about the Faraday - Lenz law, the Faraday - Lenz law is a very very very important law of our electromagnetic fields that came out of two Physicists Faraday and Lenz and that s why it s called that law. Alright, what it says is that when you have change in magnetic flux you ll generate electromotive force emf and you can think of emf just like voltage it s not exactly the same thing but for all intents and purposes it kind of is.

Alright, so what s magnetic flux? Magnetic flux is magnetic field times the area alright so it consists of two different pieces; how big is the magnetic field and how big is the area over which the magnetic field is acting. Alright, so the way tha ... Read more »
