#Law Enforcement: Degrees & Programs

Accredited by the Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training, HTC s Law Enforcement Certificate program provides both the academic and skills components of the mandated law enforcement curriculum.

From learning Minnesota statutes and the U.S. Constitution, to studying criminal and traffic law, to developing the many skills used in daily law enforcement, you ll learn from faculty with a wide range of law enforcement experience.

Labs and Classrooms

Coursework will be varied - from learning Minnesota statutes and the U.S. Constitution, to studying criminal and traffic law, to training for the many skills used in daily law enforcement, such as:

• Handling and using firearms
• Decision shooting
• Armed and unarmed defensive tactics
• High-speed and pursuit driver techniques
• Low- and high-risk traffic stop tactics
• In-progress crimes and domestic violence tactics
• Criminal investigation and arrest procedures
• Traffic law enforcement and accident investigation

Supplies/Tools

Students enrolled in the theory-based courses will be required to purchase and wear a class uniform (navy blue slacks, gray polo shirt). Students enrolled in the practical, skills-development courses will be required to purchase defensive tactics uniforms (sweat shirt, sweat pants, gym shorts, T-shirt), duty belts and accessories, as well as the class uniform.

Other expenses include: books, miscellaneous supplies, and the costs incurred for the verification of a valid drivers license, BCA criminal background check, and for medical and psychological evaluations.
