#Labor Law in Spain

Normal working hours in Spain must average 40 hours per week maximum of actual work, calculated on an annual basis. The actual number of normal working hours may never exceed 9 per day. Employees under 18 years of age may not do more than 8 hours of actual work per day. Overtime is considered to be hours of work carried out over and above the maximum number of normal working hours. Workers may work a maximum of 80 hours overtime per year, which does not include overtime compensated with rest time, or work carried out to prevent or repair extraordinary and urgent damage.

The minimum wages in Spain is since 1. 1. 2008 the amount 600 EUR per month.

Ending employment

The employment contract may be terminated due to:

mutual agreement between the parties

reasons mentioned officially in the contract

expiry of the time agreed

resignation of the worker

death, serious invalidity or permanent, total or absolute invalidity of the worker

retirement of the worker

death, retirement or invalidity of the contractor or the end of their legal status

collective dismissal (economic, technical, organizational or production grounds)

express wish of the worker on justified grounds
